Setup

1. Unpacking and Initial Inspection

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Inspect the printer and accessories for any visible damage. If any damage is found, do not proceed with setup and contact your retailer or Canon support.

2. Connecting the Power Adapter

  1. Connect the power adapter cable to the power input port on the back of the printer.
  2. Plug the power cord into a standard electrical wall outlet.
  3. The power indicator light on the printer should illuminate, indicating power is supplied.

3. Installing the Ink Cassette

  1. Locate the ink cassette compartment cover on the side of the printer and open it.
  2. Insert the ink cassette firmly into the slot until it clicks securely into place. Ensure it is oriented correctly.
  3. Close the ink cassette compartment cover.

4. Loading Photo Paper

  1. Open the paper cassette cover.
  2. Load the photo paper into the cassette with the glossy side facing up. Ensure the paper stack is aligned evenly and does not exceed the maximum capacity indicated on the cassette.
  3. Close the paper cassette cover and insert the loaded cassette into the printer's paper slot.

Important: Do not overfill the paper tray. Overfilling can cause stress on the internal gears and lead to paper jams or printer malfunctions.

Operating Instructions

Printing from a Digital Camera (Direct Print)

  1. Ensure the printer is turned on and has sufficient paper and ink.
  2. Turn on your compatible digital camera.
  3. Connect your camera to the printer using a USB Type A cable (not included). The printer should detect the camera.
  4. Use your camera's controls to select the desired images and print settings (e.g., number of copies, layout). Refer to your camera's instruction manual for specific steps.
  5. Initiate the print command from your camera. The printer will begin processing and printing the images.

Printing from a Computer

  1. Install the printer drivers and software from the included CD-ROM onto your computer. Follow the on-screen instructions.
  2. Connect the printer to your computer using a USB cable (not included).
  3. Turn on the printer.
  4. Open the image or document you wish to print on your computer and select "Print" from your application's menu (e.g., File > Print).
  5. In the print dialog box, select "Canon SELPHY CP510" as your printer. Adjust any desired print settings such as paper size, print quality, and orientation.
  6. Click "Print" to send the job to the printer.

Maintenance

Cleaning the Printer

  • Wipe the exterior of the printer with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth.
  • Do not use liquid cleaners, solvents, or abrasive materials, as these can damage the printer's surface.
  • Periodically inspect the paper path and ink cassette area for any dust or debris. Gently remove any foreign particles.

Troubleshooting
