3. Setup and Preparation

3.1. Surface Preparation

  • Ensure the metal surface is clean, dry, and free from grease, oil, rust, and loose particles.
  • Sand the surface lightly with appropriate grit sandpaper (e.g., 180-220 grit) to create a mechanical profile for optimal adhesion.
  • Wipe the surface with a suitable wax and grease remover, then allow it to flash off completely.

3.2. Environmental Conditions

  • Apply in a well-ventilated area with ambient temperatures between 65°F (18°C) and 85°F (29°C).
  • Avoid application in direct sunlight or extremely humid conditions.

3.3. Product Preparation

  • Shake the aerosol can vigorously for at least one minute after the mixing ball begins to rattle. Continue shaking periodically during application.

4. Operating Instructions (Application)

4.1. Test Spray

  • Before applying to the actual surface, perform a test spray on a piece of scrap material to ensure proper spray pattern and flow.

4.2. Application Technique

  • Hold the can approximately 8-10 inches (20-25 cm) from the surface.
  • Apply in light, even coats using a steady, sweeping motion. Avoid heavy coats to prevent runs and ensure proper etching.
  • Apply 1-2 light coats for optimal results.

4.3. Flash Time

  • Allow 5-10 minutes flash time between coats, or until the surface appears dull.
  • Allow 15-20 minutes dry time before applying subsequent primer surfacers or topcoats.

5. Maintenance and Storage

5.1. Nozzle Cleaning

  • After each use, invert the can and spray for a few seconds until only clear propellant comes out. This prevents the nozzle from clogging.
  • Wipe the nozzle clean with a rag.

5.2. Storage

  • Store the aerosol can in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, open flames, and incompatible materials.
  • Do not store above 120°F (49°C).
  • Keep out of reach of children and pets.

5.3. Disposal

  • Dispose of contents and container in accordance with local, regional, national, and international regulations. Do not puncture or incinerate aerosol cans, even when empty.
