Adjust-A-Gate Full Frame Gate Fence Kit

Instruction Manual

Introduction

The Adjust-A-Gate Full Frame Gate Fence Kit is designed to provide a durable and adjustable solution for constructing new gates or reinforcing existing ones. This heavy-duty kit is engineered to prevent gate sagging and dragging, ensuring long-lasting performance and a professional appearance. It is suitable for openings between 36 and 60 inches wide and for fences 5 to 6 feet high.

The kit includes all necessary steel components with a black powder-coated finish for enhanced durability and rust resistance. Its versatile design allows for customization with various infill materials like wood or composite, seamlessly blending with your existing fence structure.

Installation Steps:

  1. Prepare Opening: Ensure your gate opening is clear and the posts are securely set.
  2. Assemble Frame: Connect the vertical frame uprights with the adjustable spreader bars. The telescoping design allows you to adjust the width to fit your opening.
  3. Install Hinges: Attach the post hinge pins to your fence posts and the gate hinges to the assembled gate frame. Ensure proper alignment for smooth operation.
  4. Mount Gate: Secure the gate frame onto the hinge pins.
  5. Install Latch: Attach the two-way gate latch and catch mechanism.
  6. Apply Anti-Sag Truss Cable: Install the patented truss cable system diagonally across the gate frame. Tighten the cable to remove any sag and ensure the gate remains straight and level. This system is crucial for preventing future sagging.
  7. Add Infill Material: Once the frame is installed and adjusted, you can add your desired wood or composite infill material to match your fence.

Operating Your Gate

The Adjust-A-Gate system is designed for smooth and reliable operation. The integrated anti-sag truss cable ensures that the gate maintains its structural integrity and remains level over time, preventing common issues like dragging or sticking.

To open the gate, simply operate the two-way gate latch. The robust hinges allow for a full range of motion, providing easy access. When closing, ensure the latch engages securely to keep the gate in place.

Maintenance

The Adjust-A-Gate kit features a two-stage, powder-coated steel frame designed for rust and fade resistance, even in varying weather conditions. Minimal maintenance is required to keep your gate functioning optimally.

  • Regular Cleaning: Periodically clean the metal frame with mild soap and water to remove dirt and debris. Rinse thoroughly and dry to prevent water spots.
  • Hinge Lubrication: Apply a silicone-based lubricant to the hinges annually to ensure smooth operation and prevent squeaking.
  • Truss Cable Inspection: Occasionally inspect the truss cable for proper tension. If the gate shows signs of sagging, re-tighten the turnbuckle on the truss cable until the gate is level.
  • Hardware Check: Periodically check all screws and fasteners to ensure they are tight. Re-tighten if necessary.

Troubleshooting

Common Issues and Solutions:

  • Gate Sagging or Dragging: This is typically resolved by adjusting the patented truss cable system. Tighten the turnbuckle on the cable until the gate is level and no longer sags or drags on the ground.
  • Difficulty Opening/Closing: Check the hinges for debris or lack of lubrication. Clean and lubricate as needed. Ensure the gate latch mechanism is clear of obstructions and properly aligned.
  • Rust Spots: While the frame is rust-resistant, prolonged exposure to harsh conditions or damage to the powder coating can lead to minor rust. Clean the area, lightly sand if necessary, and apply a rust-inhibiting paint or touch-up kit.
