The Austin Air HealthMate filters are designed for long-lasting performance, typically requiring replacement every 5 years under normal residential use. However, filter life can vary based on usage and air quality. Regular inspection is recommended.
Steps for Filter Replacement:

- Carefully turn the unit upside down.
- Remove the four screws securing the bottom panel.
- Wearing gloves, remove the bottom panel.
- Remove the old filter assembly. Place it in a garbage bag for disposal.
- Insert the new pre-filter first, ensuring the seam aligns with the side of the unit where the power cord is located.
- Then, insert the new HEPA filter, top side down.
- Carefully reattach the bottom panel and secure it with the four screws.
- Return the unit to its upright position and plug it back in.
- Run the air purifier on high for at least one hour to break in the new filter and clear any particles introduced during the change.

Some household environments are more polluted than others, therefore the useful life of the filter media in your Austin Air cleaner may be reduced. To address this issue, Austin Air's pro-rated warranty allows you to receive a discount on your next filter replacement purchase, based on the length of time since your last filter was purchased.
If your Austin Air cleaner is used in rooms with unusually high concentrations of tobacco smoke, sawdust, soot, chemical vapor and/or odors, your Austin Air filter will need to be replaced more often. In these circumstances, you should replace your filter once your Austin Air cleaner ceases to emit clean, odorless air. If the odor of the highly concentrated contaminant is present exiting the Air Output Vent, then it is time to replace your filter.
