6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your espresso machine.

6.1 Daily Cleaning

  • Drip Tray and Grounds Container: Empty and rinse the drip tray and coffee grounds container daily. The machine will prompt you when the grounds container needs emptying.
  • Coffee Spouts: Wipe the coffee spouts with a damp cloth.
  • Frother: After each use, clean the Dual Frother Plus by dispensing steam to clear milk residue. Periodically disassemble and clean the frother components with warm soapy water.

6.2 Automatic Cleaning Cycles

The Impressa E8 features automatic cleaning cycles for various functions. The LED display will guide you when a cleaning cycle is required.

  • Rinse Cycle: The machine performs an automatic hot-water rinse cycle to clean and pre-heat vital brewing parts.
  • Cleaning Program: Use Jura cleaning tablets as instructed by the machine's display to perform a thorough cleaning of the brewing unit.

6.3 Clearyl Water Filter System

The Clearyl water-care system removes chlorine, lead, aluminum, and copper for better tasting coffee and helps prevent limescale buildup. Replace the filter cartridge as indicated by the machine's display or approximately every two months, depending on water hardness and usage.

6.4 Descaling

Although the Clearyl filter reduces the need for frequent descaling, the machine may still prompt for a descaling cycle based on water hardness and usage. Follow the on-screen instructions and use a descaling agent recommended by Capresso/Jura.

Note: A common issue leading to weak coffee or grounds spilling into the drip tray can be a clogged filter disc within the brewing unit. This disc, located behind the brown plastic flap inside the opening where the drip tray sits, can be gently wiped clean with a damp paper towel to improve coffee flow and quality.
