3. Package Contents
Verify that all items are present in the package:
- 1 x Kato Turnout Control Switch (Model 24-840)
- 1 x Sheet of Number Labels (for identifying multiple switches)
4. Setup and Installation
Follow these steps to properly set up your Kato Turnout Control Switch:
- Connecting to a KATO Power Pack: The control switch is designed for seamless integration with compatible KATO Power Packs. Align the connectors on the side of the control switch with the corresponding ports on your KATO Power Pack and gently push until it clicks securely into place.
- Connecting to a General Power Pack: If you are using a non-KATO power pack, a KATO DC Converter (Model #24-842, sold separately) is required. Connect the control switch to the DC Converter, then connect the converter to your general power pack. Ensure the power supply does not exceed DC 16V.
- Connecting to Turnouts: Use appropriate wiring (not included) to connect the control switch to your KATO Unitrack turnouts. Refer to your turnout's specific instructions for wiring details.
- Multiple Switches: For layouts with multiple turnouts, several control switches can be connected side-by-side to form a consolidated control panel. Use the provided number labels to clearly identify each switch for easy operation.

5. Operating Instructions
Once the control switch is properly installed and connected to your power source and turnout, follow these steps for operation:
- Ensure your model railroad power pack is turned on and supplying power to the system.
- To change the direction of the turnout, firmly move the gray lever on the control switch to the desired position (indicated by arrows or numbers on the switch face).
- Important: Always ensure the lever is moved completely to one of the end positions. Partial movement may result in unreliable operation of the turnout or potential damage to its mechanism.
- Operate the lever with gentle but firm movement. Avoid excessive force, as this can cause damage to the switch or turnout.
