Setup
1. Battery Installation
The PT1000 requires 4 AAA batteries (not included) for operation. For optimal performance, alkaline batteries are recommended.
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the unit.
- Slide the cover off in the direction indicated by the arrow.
- Insert 4 AAA batteries, ensuring the correct polarity (+/-) as marked inside the compartment.
- Replace the battery compartment cover until it clicks securely into place.
2. Tape Cassette Installation
The PT1000 uses Brother TZ tape cassettes, available in 6mm, 9mm, and 12mm widths.

- Open the tape cassette cover located on the left side of the unit.
- Insert the tape cassette firmly into the compartment, ensuring the tape end feeds into the tape guide.
- Close the tape cassette cover until it clicks securely.
3. Powering On
Press the Power button (red circle with a line) located on the top left of the keyboard to turn on the device. The LCD screen will illuminate.
Operating Instructions
1. Basic Label Creation
- Ensure the device is powered on.
- Type your desired text using the ABCD keyboard. The 8-character x 1-line LCD screen will display your input.
- To print, press the Print button (icon resembling a printer).
- After printing, use the manual tape cutter located on the right side of the unit to cut the label.
2. Customizing Labels
The PT1000 offers various customization options:
- Font Styles: Access different font styles using the dedicated font button.
- Print Styles: Choose from 8 print styles (e.g., bold, italic, outline) to enhance your text.
- Print Sizes: Select from 6 print sizes to fit your labeling needs.
- Vertical Printing: Enable vertical text orientation for specific applications.
- Borders: Apply one of 5 available borders to frame your labels.
- Memory Function: The device has a 300-character memory, allowing you to save frequently used label texts for quick recall. Consult the on-screen prompts or the full user manual for saving and recalling procedures.
3. Using Different Tape Widths
The PT1000 supports 6mm, 9mm, and 12mm tape widths. Simply insert the appropriate tape cassette for your desired label size. The device automatically detects the tape width.
Maintenance
1. Cleaning the Print Head
To maintain print quality, periodically clean the print head. Use a dry cotton swab to gently wipe the print head surface. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
2. Replacing Tape Cassettes
When the tape runs out or you wish to change tape types/colors:
- Ensure the device is turned off.
- Open the tape cassette cover.
- Remove the empty or unwanted tape cassette.
- Insert a new tape cassette as described in the Setup section.
- Close the tape cassette cover.
3. Battery Replacement
When the LCD screen indicates low battery or the device fails to power on, replace all 4 AAA batteries with new ones, following the battery installation steps in the Setup section.
