4.1 Powering the Unit

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Loading a CD

  1. Gently press the OPEN button (if present) or lift the lid of the CD player.
  2. Place a CD onto the center spindle with the label side facing up.
  3. Gently press down on the center of the CD until it clicks into place.
  4. Close the CD compartment lid firmly until it latches.

5.2 Basic Playback

  1. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button to start playback. The track number and elapsed time will be displayed (if applicable).
  2. Adjust the VOLUME control to your desired listening level.
  3. To pause playback, press the PLAY/PAUSE button again. Press it once more to resume.
  4. To stop playback, press the STOP button.

5.3 Skipping Tracks

  • To skip to the next track, press the >> (Skip Forward) button.
  • To skip to the beginning of the current track, press the << (Skip Backward) button once.
  • To skip to the previous track, press the << (Skip Backward) button twice quickly.

5.4 Searching Within a Track

  • During playback, press and hold the >> button to fast-forward. Release to resume normal playback.
  • During playback, press and hold the << button to fast-rewind. Release to resume normal playback.

5.5 Programming Tracks (Programmable Memories)

You can program up to 20 tracks to play in a specific order.

  1. With the CD stopped, press the PROGRAM button. "PROG" will flash on the display.
  2. Use the << or >> buttons to select the first track you wish to program.
  3. Press the PROGRAM button again to confirm the selection.
  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for each additional track you want to program.
  5. After programming all desired tracks, press the PLAY/PAUSE button to start playback of the programmed sequence.
  6. To clear the program, open the CD compartment or press the STOP button twice.

5.6 Playback Modes (MODE Button)

Press the MODE button repeatedly to cycle through available playback modes:

  • Repeat 1: Repeats the current track.
  • Repeat All: Repeats all tracks on the CD.
  • Random: Plays tracks in a random order.
  • Intro: Plays the first few seconds of each track (if available).
  • Normal Play: Resumes standard playback.

5.7 Bass Boost System

The ALBA PCD268 features a Super Bass Boost System (3.3S) to enhance low-frequency audio. This feature is typically activated by a switch or button labeled "BASS BOOST" or "3.3S". Refer to the unit's physical controls for its exact location and operation.
