Setup

Battery Installation

• Locate the battery compartment on the back of the unit.
• Open the compartment cover.
• Insert 2 AA alkaline batteries (not included) according to the polarity indicators (+/-).
• Insert the included rechargeable Ni-Cad batteries into their designated slots, observing polarity.
• Close the battery compartment cover securely.

Powering the Unit

• Hand Crank Dynamo: Extend the hand crank handle and rotate it clockwise or counter-clockwise for approximately 1-2 minutes to provide power for short-term use or to recharge the internal Ni-Cad batteries.
• AC Adapter (not included): Connect a compatible AC adapter (check specifications for voltage and current) to the DC input jack on the radio and plug it into a standard wall outlet. This method charges the Ni-Cad batteries.
• Vehicle DC Lighter Adapter (not included): Connect a compatible vehicle DC lighter adapter to the DC input jack and plug it into your vehicle's 12V accessory outlet. This method also charges the Ni-Cad batteries.

Operating Instructions

Turning On/Off and Volume Control

• To turn the radio on, rotate the Volume/Power knob clockwise.
• Adjust the volume by continuing to rotate the knob.
• To turn the radio off, rotate the Volume/Power knob counter-clockwise until it clicks.

AM/FM Radio Operation

• Press the BAND button to select either AM or FM band. The selected band will appear on the LCD display.
• Use the TUNING knob to scan for desired radio stations. The frequency will be shown on the digital readout.
• Extend the telescopic antenna for optimal FM reception. For AM reception, rotate the unit for best signal.

NOAA Weather Band Operation

• Press the BAND button repeatedly until "WB" (Weather Band) appears on the LCD display.
• Use the TUNING knob to select one of the 7 NOAA weather channels. Refer to local NOAA information for the correct channel in your area.
• The radio will receive 24-hour NOAA alerts, including hurricane, tsunami, and tornado warnings, for 7 designated zones.

Clock and Alarm Functions

• Verify the Volume/Power knob is rotated clockwise past the 'off' position.

Poor Radio Reception
