Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your coffee maker.
Daily Cleaning
- Unplug: Always unplug the coffee maker before cleaning.
- Discard Grounds: Remove the filter holder and discard the used coffee grounds and filter.
- Wash Components: Wash the filter holder, insulated pot, and pot lid in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. These parts are not dishwasher safe.
- Wipe Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
- Dry: Ensure all parts are completely dry before reassembling or storing.
Descaling
Mineral deposits from water can build up over time, affecting performance and coffee taste. Descale your coffee maker regularly, depending on water hardness and frequency of use (e.g., every 1-3 months).
- Prepare Descaling Solution: Use a commercial coffee maker descaling solution or a mixture of white vinegar and water (e.g., 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water). Follow the descaling product's instructions for concentration.
- Run Descaling Cycle: Pour the descaling solution into the water tank. Place the empty pot on the base. Run a brewing cycle as if making coffee, but without coffee grounds.
- Rinse Cycles: After the descaling cycle, discard the solution. Fill the water tank with fresh, cold water and run at least two full brewing cycles with only water to thoroughly rinse the system.
- Clean Pot: Wash the insulated pot and lid thoroughly after descaling.
