Setup

Connecting to Your Television

The Zenith XBV443 offers multiple connection options to your television, depending on the type of inputs available on your TV and the desired video quality.

Option 1: Component Video Connection (Recommended for DVD)

For the highest quality DVD picture, use the component video outputs. This connection requires three video cables (red, green, blue) and two audio cables (red, white).

1. Connect the red, green, and blue component video cables from the "COMPONENT PROGRESSIVE SCAN VIDEO OUT" jacks on the XBV443 to the corresponding component video input jacks on your television.
2. Connect the red and white audio cables from the "AUDIO OUT" jacks on the XBV443 to the corresponding audio input jacks on your television or audio receiver.

Option 2: S-Video Connection (Good for DVD)

S-Video provides a better picture than composite video for DVD playback.

1. Connect an S-Video cable from the "S-VIDEO OUT" jack on the XBV443 to the S-Video input jack on your television.

Connecting to an Audio Receiver (Optional)

For enhanced audio experience, connect the XBV443 to an audio receiver or home theater system.

1. Digital Audio: Use either an optical digital cable from the "OPTICAL DIGITAL AUDIO OUT" jack or a coaxial digital cable from the "COAXIAL DIGITAL AUDIO OUT" jack on the XBV443 to the corresponding digital audio input on your receiver. This provides Dolby Digital or DTS 5.1-channel surround sound.
2. Analog Audio: Connect red and white audio cables from the "AUDIO OUT" jacks on the XBV443 to an available analog audio input on your receiver.

Operating Instructions

Basic Operation

1. Power On/Off: Press the POWER button on the front panel or remote control.
2. Selecting Mode (DVD/VCR): Press the DVD/VCR button on the front panel or remote control to switch between DVD and VCR modes.
3. Input Selection on TV: Ensure your television is set to the correct input (e.g., Component, S-Video, AV1, AV2, Channel 3/4) corresponding to how you connected the XBV443.

DVD Playback

1. Ensure the unit is in DVD mode.
2. Press the OPEN/CLOSE button to open the disc tray.
3. Place a DVD, Audio CD, CD-R/RW, MP3/WMA CD, or JPEG CD onto the disc tray with the label side facing up.
4. Press OPEN/CLOSE again to close the tray. The disc will load automatically.
5. Playback will usually begin automatically. If not, press the PLAY button.
6. Use the PAUSE/STEP, STOP, SKIP, and FORWARD/REWIND buttons for playback control.

VCR Playback and Recording
