PetSafe Original Wireless Electric Fence for Dogs

Introduction

The PetSafe Wireless Pet Containment System is designed to provide a secure, invisible boundary for your dog without the need for digging or burying wires. This portable system creates a circular boundary that can be adjusted to cover up to 1/2 acre, offering a flexible solution for your yard or when traveling. The system includes a waterproof receiver collar with tone-only and static correction levels, allowing for tailored training to suit your dog's temperament.

Safety Information

For optimal safety and to prevent unintended activation of the receiver collar during frequent power outages, it is advised to use an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) with the transmitter unit.

Setup

1. Transmitter Placement

   Place the transmitter unit indoors in a central location that allows for the desired circular boundary coverage. The transmitter acts as the center of your pet's play area. Ensure it is plugged into a standard electrical outlet.

2. Boundary Adjustment

   Adjust the boundary control on the transmitter to set the desired range of the circular containment area. The system can cover up to 1/2 acre. Test the boundary with the receiver collar to ensure it meets your requirements and does not extend into unwanted areas like roads or neighbor's yards.

3. Collar Setup

   Fit the waterproof receiver collar snugly on your dog's neck. The collar is designed for dogs at least 6 months old weighing 8 lbs or more, and fits neck sizes from 6-28 inches. Ensure the contact points touch your dog's skin for proper operation.

4. Training Flags

   Place the included boundary flags around the perimeter of the established wireless boundary. These flags serve as visual cues to help train your dog to recognize the containment area. Gradually remove the flags as your dog learns the boundary.

Operating the System

• Collar Alerts

  When your dog approaches the boundary, the receiver collar will first emit a tone-only alert. If the dog continues towards the boundary, it will receive a static correction. The collar features five adjustable static correction levels, allowing you to customize the training intensity based on your dog's response. Static-free reentry ensures positive reinforcement when the dog returns to the safe zone.

• Multi-Pet Support

  The PetSafe Wireless Pet Containment System supports multiple pets. Additional receiver collars can be purchased and linked to the same transmitter unit, allowing all your dogs to safely enjoy the designated play area.

Maintenance

The receiver collar operates on a replaceable RFA-67 battery. The battery typically lasts 1-2 months and includes a battery status indicator to inform you when replacement is needed. Regularly check the battery status to ensure continuous operation of the system.

Troubleshooting

If the system is not functioning as expected, ensure the transmitter is properly plugged in and the power indicator light is on. Check the receiver collar battery status.
