Setup and Installation

Professional installation is recommended for optimal performance and to ensure compliance with local plumbing codes. Before beginning installation, ensure the main water supply to the area is turned off.

Required Tools (Not Included):

  • Adjustable wrench
  • Phillips head screwdriver
  • Plumber's putty or silicone sealant (optional, but recommended for drain seal)
  • Thread seal tape

Installation Steps:

  1. Prepare the Sink: Ensure the mounting surface is clean and dry. The faucet is designed for a 3-hole widespread installation.
  2. Install Faucet Body: Insert the faucet spout and handle assemblies into the corresponding holes on the sink or countertop. Secure them from underneath with the provided washers and nuts.
  3. Connect Water Lines: Attach the hot and cold water supply lines to the appropriate inlets on the faucet body. Use thread seal tape on all threaded connections to prevent leaks.
  4. Install Pop-Up Drain: The metal pop-up drain features a cable-operated mechanism for easy installation and adjustment. Insert the drain body into the sink's drain hole. While the instructions suggest using only the included foam washer, applying a thin bead of plumber's putty or silicone sealant around the flange before insertion is recommended for a more secure, leak-free seal. Connect the cable mechanism to the faucet's lift rod.
  5. Flush Lines: Before attaching the aerator, turn on the water supply and flush the lines for a few minutes to clear any debris from the plumbing and faucet castings. This prevents clogging of the aerator.
  6. Attach Aerator: Once flushing is complete, attach the aerator to the spout.

Operating Instructions

Your American Standard Hampton faucet is designed for intuitive operation.

  • Water Flow and Temperature Control: The two lever handles control the hot and cold water independently. Turn the left handle for hot water and the right handle for cold water. Rotate the handles forward to increase water flow and backward to decrease or shut off.
  • Pop-Up Drain Operation: The pop-up drain is operated by a lift rod located at the back of the faucet spout. Pull the rod up to close the drain and push it down to open the drain, allowing water to flow out of the basin.

Maintenance and Care

Proper care will help maintain the finish and functionality of your American Standard Hampton faucet for years to come.

  • Cleaning the Finish: Clean the faucet regularly with a soft cloth and warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth to prevent water spots. Do NOT use abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals, or scouring pads, as these can damage the finish.
  • Aerator Maintenance: If water flow becomes restricted, the aerator may be clogged. Unscrew the aerator from the spout, clean any debris from the screen, and rinse it under running water. Reattach the aerator securely.
  • Ceramic Disc Valves: The ceramic disc valves are designed for long-term, drip-free performance and typically require no maintenance.
