Important Safety Information

Always follow basic safety precautions when using electrical appliances to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury to persons.

  • Outdoor Use Only: This electric smoker is strictly designed for outdoor use. Do not operate indoors or in enclosed areas.
  • Electrical Connection: Connect the smoker only to a standard 3-prong (grounded) 110/120V electrical outlet. Ensure the outlet is properly grounded.
  • Keep Dry: Do not expose the smoker to rain or wet conditions. Keep electrical cords away from heated surfaces.
  • Hot Surfaces: The smoker's exterior and interior surfaces become extremely hot during operation. Use heat-resistant gloves and avoid direct contact.
  • Supervision: Never leave the smoker unattended while in use.
  • Clearance: Maintain adequate clearance from combustible materials (e.g., walls, fences, trees).
  • Children and Pets: Keep children and pets away from the smoker during operation and while it is cooling down.
  • Ventilation: Ensure proper ventilation around the smoker to prevent carbon monoxide buildup.

Setup

1. Unpacking

Carefully remove the smoker and all its components from the packaging. Inspect for any damage. The package should include the smoker unit, 4 sliding grills, an electric cord, a drip pan, and a wood flavor pan.

2. Placement

Place the smoker on a stable, level, non-combustible surface outdoors. Ensure it is away from any flammable materials, structures, or vegetation. Do not place it under an overhang or in an enclosed area.

3. Initial Cleaning

Before first use, wash the grills, drip pan, and wood flavor pan with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Wipe down the interior of the smoker with a damp cloth.

4. Component Installation

  • Place the drip pan at the bottom of the smoker, directly above the heating element.
  • Position the wood flavor pan on top of the heating element, above the drip pan.
  • Insert the 4 sliding grills into their designated slots within the smoker cabinet.

No assembly is required for the main smoker unit.

Operating Instructions

1. Prepare Food

Prepare your game or domestic meats according to your recipe. Place the food directly on the sliding grills, ensuring adequate space between items for proper smoke circulation.

2. Add Wood Chips

Fill the wood flavor pan with your desired wood chips (e.g., hickory, mesquite, apple). Do not overfill. The wood chips will smolder and produce smoke when heated.

3. Power On

Close the smoker door securely. Plug the electric cord into a standard 3-prong (grounded) 110/120V electrical outlet. The heating element will begin to warm up, and the wood chips will start to smolder, producing smoke.

4. Smoking Process

Monitor the smoking process. The Little Chief Electric Smoker operates at a consistent temperature suitable for smoking. Avoid opening the smoker door frequently, as this releases heat and smoke, extending cooking time.

5. Replenish Wood Chips (if needed)

If a longer smoking time is required, you may need to replenish the wood chips. Unplug the smoker, carefully open the door, and use heat-resistant gloves to remove and refill the wood flavor pan. Close the door and plug the smoker back in.

6. Completion

Once the food has reached the desired internal temperature and smoke flavor, unplug the smoker. Allow the smoker and food to cool slightly before carefully removing the food.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning After Each Use

  • Ensure the smoker is unplugged and completely cool before cleaning.
  • Remove the grills, drip pan, and wood flavor pan. Wash these components with warm, soapy water. For stubborn residue, a non-abrasive scrubber can be used. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
  • Wipe the interior and exterior of the smoker cabinet with a damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners that could damage the finish.
  • Clean the heating element area carefully, ensuring no water comes into contact with electrical components.

2. Storage

Store the smoker in a dry, protected area when not in use. If storing outdoors, use a weather-resistant cover to protect it from the elements.

Troubleshooting

  • Smoker Not Heating:
    • Check if the smoker is properly plugged into a grounded 110/120V outlet.
    • Verify that the electrical outlet is functional (test with another appliance).
    • Ensure the power cord is not damaged.
  • Insufficient Smoke Production:
    • Ensure the wood flavor pan contains enough wood chips.
    • Check if the wood chips are dry. Wet wood chips may not smolder effectively.
    • Confirm the heating element is functioning correctly.
  • Uneven Cooking:
    • Avoid overcrowding the grills. Ensure proper air and smoke circulation around food items.
    • Minimize opening the smoker door during operation to maintain consistent temperature.
