3. Setup
3.1 Unpacking and Placement

3.2 Connecting to an Audio System

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Basic Playback
- Press the POWER button to turn on the unit.
- Press the OPEN/CLOSE button to open the disc tray.
- Place a CD (CD-R, CD-RW, or standard audio CD) onto the disc tray with the label side up.
- Press OPEN/CLOSE again to close the tray.
- Press the PLAY button to start playback.
- Use the PAUSE and STOP buttons for playback control.
- Use the SKIP buttons (◀◀ / ▶▶) to navigate between tracks.
4.2 Recording Audio CDs
The PDR-D50 allows you to record audio onto CD-R and CD-RW discs. Ensure you are using audio-specific CD-R/RW discs.

- Load a Blank Disc: Insert a blank audio CD-R or CD-RW disc into the disc tray.
- Select Input Source: Use the INPUT SELECTOR to choose between analog or digital input.
- Adjust Recording Level: For analog recording, use the ANALOG REC LEVEL knob to adjust the input level. For digital recording, the level is typically fixed, but the DIGITAL VOLUME and DIGITAL BALANCE functions can be used for fine-tuning. Monitor the level meters to avoid distortion.
- Synchronized Recording (Sync Rec): For automatic recording start/stop with the source, activate the SYNCHRO function.
- Start Recording: Press the RECORD button. Then, start playback on your source device.
- Stop Recording: Press the STOP button on the PDR-D50.
- Finalize the Disc: After recording, CD-R discs must be finalized to be playable on standard CD players. Press the FINALIZE button. The PDR-D50 supports 2x speed finalization. CD-RW discs do not require finalization but can be erased and re-recorded.
- CD TEXT: Use the CD TEXT function to input track and disc names. Refer to the on-screen display for navigation and input.
5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning the Unit
Wipe the exterior of the unit with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn stains, use a cloth lightly dampened with a mild detergent solution, then wipe dry. Do not use abrasive cleaners, benzene, or alcohol, as these can damage the finish.
5.2 Disc Care
Always handle discs by their edges. Keep discs clean and free from scratches. Store discs in their cases when not in use to prevent dust and damage.
