Setup
Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment on the rear of the device.
- Open the battery cover.
- Insert two AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity as indicated inside the compartment.
- Close the battery cover securely to maintain water resistance.
Operating Instructions
Powering On/Off
Press and hold the power button (usually located on the side or top) to turn the device on or off.
Navigating Menus
The SporTrak Color features intuitive controls. Major functions are described with step-by-step instructions built into the unit. Use the directional pad and selection buttons to navigate through menus and options.
Mapping and Navigation
The device includes a 10 MB built-in mapping database for North America, covering highways, major roads, parks, waterways, airports, cities, and marine navigation aids. You can expand mapping capabilities by uploading detailed maps from optional Magellan MapSend software (up to an additional 22 MB).
The unit can store up to 20 routes, 500 waypoints, and 2,000 track-points. The Save Track-to-Route feature allows conversion of complicated track files into easy-to-follow routes. Hundreds of routes can be saved by transferring them to a PC using optional MapSend software.
Customizable Navigation Screens
Nine customizable graphic navigation screens are available, including map, compass, and speedometer. These screens provide text readouts of heading, bearing, speed, direction, and Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA). You can choose from 12 built-in coordinate systems and 76 datums, including Latitude/Longitude, Universal Transverse Mercator, and Military Grid Reference System.
Barometer and Compass
A built-in barometer assists in weather forecasting. The innovative three-axis compass offers superior navigational accuracy regardless of how the device is held.
Additional Functions
The device can display sunrise and sunset times, moon phases for any date and location, and even provide a fish and game biting calculator. It also monitors GPS satellites in view and provides status information.
Maintenance
Cleaning
Wipe the device with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as they may damage the screen or casing.
Storage
When storing the device for extended periods, remove the batteries to prevent leakage. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
