Setup

Connecting the Phone

  1. Connect one end of the coiled handset cord to the handset and the other end to the jack labeled HANDSET on the telephone base.
  2. Connect one end of the 7-foot line cord to the jack labeled LINE on the telephone base.
  3. Plug the other end of the line cord into a standard telephone wall jack.

Wall Installation

The AT&T 210 phone can be easily mounted on a wall to save space. Follow these steps for wall installation:

  1. Remove the directory card and plastic cover to reveal the handset tab (refer to diagram A & B in the image).
  2. Reverse the handset tab and place the directory card back (refer to diagram C & D in the image). This secures the handset when wall-mounted.
  3. Plug the line cord into the jack on the underside of the base.
  4. Install the telephone base onto the wall jack. Ensure it clicks securely into place.

Operating Instructions

Making and Receiving Calls

  • To Make a Call: Lift the handset, wait for a dial tone, and then dial the desired number.
  • To Receive a Call: When the phone rings, lift the handset.
  • To End a Call: Place the handset back on the base.

Lighted Keypad

The keypad illuminates when the handset is lifted or a button is pressed, making it easy to dial in dimly lit environments.

One-Touch Memory Buttons

The phone features three dedicated one-touch memory buttons (often marked with symbols like fire, shield, or plus) for emergency or frequently called numbers. These can store numbers up to 21 digits.

Programming One-Touch Memory:

  1. Lift the handset.
  2. Press the MEM button.
  3. Dial the phone number you wish to store.
  4. Press the MEM button again.
  5. Press one of the three one-touch memory buttons (e.g., the button with the fire symbol) to save the number.

Using One-Touch Memory:

  • Lift the handset and press the desired one-touch memory button. The stored number will be dialed automatically.

Speed Dial Memory

The phone allows you to store up to 10 additional numbers for speed dialing. A directory card is provided to help you keep track of these settings.

Programming Speed Dial:

  1. Lift the handset.
  2. Press the MEM button.
  3. Dial the phone number you wish to store.
  4. Press the MEM button again.
  5. Press a number key (0-9) to assign the number to that speed dial location.

Using Speed Dial:

  • Lift the handset.
  • Press the MEM button.
  • Press the assigned number key (0-9). The stored number will be dialed automatically.

Ringer Volume Control

Adjust the ringer volume using the switch located on the side of the phone base. Options include Off, Low, and High.

Handset Volume Control

Adjust the listening volume during a call using the slider switch on the side of the handset. Options include Normal and Loud.

Redial Function

To quickly redial the last number called (up to 32 digits), lift the handset and press the REDIAL button.

Mute Function

During a call, press the PROG/MUTE button to temporarily mute your microphone. The other party will not hear you, but you can still hear them. Press it again to unmute.

Tone/Pulse Dialing

The phone supports both tone and pulse dialing methods. A switch on the base allows you to select the appropriate mode for your telephone line. Most modern telephone systems use tone dialing.

To ensure the longevity and proper functioning of your AT&T 210 phone, follow these simple maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Wipe the phone's exterior with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as they may damage the finish.
  • Avoid Liquids: Keep the phone away from water and other liquids. If the phone gets wet, disconnect it immediately and allow it to dry completely before reconnecting.
  • Temperature: Store and operate the phone in a moderate temperature environment. Avoid extreme heat or cold.
  • Dust: Regularly dust the phone to prevent accumulation in crevices and around buttons.

Troubleshooting

If you experience issues with your AT&T 210 phone, consult the following common problems and solutions:

Cannot Hear Caller / Caller Cannot Hear Me
  • Adjust the Handset Volume Control switch on the side of the handset.
  • If the caller cannot hear you, ensure the Mute function is not activated. Press the PROG/MUTE button to toggle.
  • Check the coiled handset cord for secure connections at both ends.
Speed Dial / Memory Buttons Not Working
  • Ensure numbers are correctly programmed. Refer to the "Operating Instructions" section for programming steps.
  • Verify that the stored numbers are valid and include any necessary prefixes (e.g., '1' for long distance).
