Setup

The rollers heat up quickly, typically within 85 seconds. For optimal heating, ensure the lid is tightly closed. During the first use, a faint plastic smell or a smoking effect may occur. This is normal and will dissipate after initial use. It is recommended to operate the unit in a well-ventilated area for the first heating cycle to allow any manufacturing odors to clear.

Operating Instructions

Follow these steps to achieve beautiful curls and waves:

  1. Prepare Hair: Ensure your hair is dry and free of tangles. You may apply a heat protectant spray.
  2. Heat Rollers: Plug in the hot rollers and allow them to heat up. The small white dot on the top of each roller will turn transparent white when they are warm and ready for use.
  3. Section Hair: Take a 1-inch section of hair. For best results, start with the top sections of your hair.
  4. Roll Hair: Place the roller at the end of the hair section and wind the hair smoothly towards the scalp. Ensure the hair is wrapped tightly and evenly around the roller.
  5. Secure Roller: Use the provided wire pins to secure the roller in place.
  6. Set Time: Leave the rollers in your hair for 20 minutes or more for bouncy, voluminous curls. For looser waves, leave them in for 10 minutes or less.
  7. Remove Rollers: Once the rollers are cool to the touch, carefully unroll them one at a time, making sure not to pull your hair.
  8. Style: Gently comb through your hair or use your fingers to arrange the curls as desired. Set your style with your favorite hairspray for extra hold.

Maintenance and Care

To ensure the longevity and performance of your Conair Hot Rollers, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Always unplug the unit and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  • Wipe the heating unit and rollers with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the unit in water or any other liquid.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as these may damage the surface.
  • Store the unit in a cool, dry place, out of reach of children.
  • Do not wrap the cord around the appliance. Allow the cord to hang loose or lie coiled loosely at the side of the unit.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your Conair Hot Rollers, refer to the following common solutions:

  • Rollers not heating: Ensure the unit is properly plugged into a functioning electrical outlet. Check if the red indicator light is on. If not, try a different outlet.
  • Red light not turning transparent white: The red light indicates the unit is heating. The small white dot on each roller turning transparent white indicates individual rollers are warm. If the dot does not change, ensure the lid is closed for optimal heat retention and allow sufficient time (at least 85 seconds, possibly longer for full heat).
  • Unusual smell during first use: A faint plastic smell is normal during the initial heating cycles. This will dissipate with continued use. Ensure the unit is used in a well-ventilated area for the first few uses.
  • Rollers too hot to handle: Allow the rollers to cool slightly before handling if they are too hot. The ceramic material retains heat effectively.
  • Curls not holding/Hair falling out of rollers: Ensure hair sections are not too large for the roller size. Wrap hair tightly and evenly. Make sure the wire pins are securing the rollers firmly. Allow sufficient cooling time for the curls to set before removing rollers.
