Setup

Battery Installation

The J500 Microcassette Recorder requires two (2) AAA batteries for operation. These batteries are typically included with your purchase.

  3. Insert two AAA batteries, ensuring the correct polarity (+ and -) as marked inside the compartment.

Loading a Microcassette Tape

The J500 uses standard microcassette tapes.

Operating Instructions

Basic Controls

Familiarize yourself with the main control buttons located on the side of the recorder:

Recording

Voice Activated Recording (VOR)

The J500 features a Voice Activated Recording (VOR) function, which automatically starts recording when sound is detected and pauses when silence occurs, conserving tape and battery life.

  • To activate VOR, locate the VOR switch (if present, typically on the side or front) and slide it to the 'ON' position.
  • Press the RECORD button. The recorder will now only record when sound is present.

Playback

  1. Insert a microcassette tape.
  2. Press the PLAY button. The tape will begin to play.

  4. To stop playback, press the STOP button.

Dual Tape Speeds

The J500 offers two tape speeds to optimize recording time or sound quality:
