Setup Instructions

  1. Assemble the Tree: Carefully connect the two plastic tree sections. They are designed to fit together without snapping, allowing for easy disassembly for storage.
  2. Apply Labels (if necessary): If your monkey figures require labels, apply the appropriate color labels to each set of four monkeys. Each player will use one color set.
  3. Distribute Components: Each player selects a color and takes the four corresponding monkey figures and one catapult.
  4. Place Bananas: Place the banana tokens in a central pile within reach of all players.
  5. Position the Tree: Place the assembled tree in the center of the playing area.

How to Play

Game Objective:

The goal of Jumpin' Monkeys is to be the first player to successfully launch all four of your monkeys into the tree. The player who achieves this first wins a bunch of banana tokens for that round.

Gameplay:

  1. Starting the Game: The youngest player typically goes first, and play proceeds clockwise.
  2. Player's Turn: On your turn, place one of your monkeys onto your catapult. Aim carefully and press down on the catapult to launch your monkey towards the tree.
  3. Successful Launch: If your monkey lands in the tree and hangs from one of the branches, it counts as a successful placement.
  4. Unsuccessful Launch: If your monkey misses the tree or falls out, you retrieve it and wait for your next turn to try again.
  5. Knocking Off Opponents: You can attempt to knock other players' monkeys out of the tree with your own launched monkeys. If an opponent's monkey falls, they must retrieve it and wait for their next turn to re-launch it.
  6. Winning a Round: The first player to get all four of their monkeys to hang successfully in the tree wins the round and takes a banana token from the central pile.

Ending the Game:

The game is typically played over four rounds. After four rounds, the player with the most banana tokens is the overall winner.

Game Variations

For younger players or to adjust the difficulty, consider these rule modifications:

  • Simplified Scoring: For younger children, a monkey simply landing anywhere on the tree (even resting on top of a branch) can count as a successful placement, rather than requiring it to hang.
  • No Knock-Offs: Players can agree that monkeys cannot be knocked off the tree once placed, focusing solely on getting their own monkeys into position.
  • Team Play: Divide into teams, with players taking turns to launch monkeys for their team. The first team to get all their combined monkeys into the tree wins.

Care and Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe game components with a soft, damp cloth as needed. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Storage: For compact storage, the plastic tree can be easily disassembled into its two main parts. Store all components in the original game box to prevent loss and damage.
  • Handling: Handle monkey figures and catapults with care to prevent breakage.

Troubleshooting

  • Catapult Malfunction: If a catapult is not launching monkeys effectively or consistently, inspect the spring mechanism for any obstructions or damage. Ensure the monkey is placed correctly on the launch pad.
  • Missing Components: In the event of missing parts (e.g., specific colored labels or monkey figures), please contact Pressman customer support for assistance.
  • Monkey Breakage: Small plastic parts can be delicate. If a monkey figure breaks, replacement parts may be available through customer support.
