2. Setup and Installation

The Midland 77-092 is designed for permanent installation in a vehicle. Proper installation is crucial for optimal performance and safety.

2.1 Mounting the CB Radio

Select a secure and convenient location in your vehicle for mounting the CB radio. Ensure the location does not obstruct the driver's view, interfere with vehicle controls, or impede airbag deployment. The compact size of the unit (approximately 4 7/8"W x 1 5/8"H x 6 1/2"D) allows for flexible placement.

  1. Use the provided mounting bracket and hardware to secure the radio to a flat surface, such as the dashboard or under-dash area.
  2. Ensure the mounting is stable and can withstand vehicle vibrations.

2.2 Power Connection

Connect the radio to your vehicle's 12-volt DC power supply. The red wire is for positive (+) and the black wire is for negative (-). It is recommended to connect the red wire to an accessory circuit that is switched with the ignition, and the black wire to a good chassis ground point.

  1. Connect the red power wire to a fused 12V DC positive (+) source.
  2. Connect the black power wire to a clean, unpainted metal surface on the vehicle chassis for a good ground connection.
  3. Ensure all connections are secure and properly insulated.

  1. Connect the coaxial cable from your CB antenna to the ANT connector on the rear of the radio.
  2. Ensure the connection is tight and secure.
  3. For optimal performance, tune your antenna using a Standing Wave Ratio (SWR) meter after installation.

2.4 Microphone Connection

Plug the coiled-cord microphone into the MIC jack on the front panel of the CB radio.

2.5 External Speaker (Optional)

An external speaker can be connected to the EXT SP jack on the rear of the unit for improved audio clarity, especially in noisy environments.
