The GE 35027 is a portable cassette recorder designed for convenient audio recording and playback. It features a compact design, push-button controls, a built-in microphone, and operates on both AC power and batteries.

Setup

1. Powering the Device

The GE 35027 can be powered by either the included AC converter or four (4) AA batteries.

• AC Power: Connect the AC converter to the DC IN 6V jack on the side of the recorder and plug the other end into a standard electrical outlet.
• Battery Power: Open the battery compartment cover on the bottom of the unit. Insert four (4) AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment. Close the cover securely.

2. Loading a Cassette

1. Press the STOP/EJECT button to open the cassette compartment door.
2. Insert a standard audio cassette tape with the open edge facing upwards and the tape side facing the playback head.
3. Gently close the cassette compartment door until it clicks into place.

Operating Instructions

1. Basic Playback

To play a cassette tape:

1. Ensure a cassette is loaded and the device is powered.
2. Press the PLAY button. The tape will begin to play.
3. Adjust the VOLUME slider on the side of the unit to your desired listening level.
4. To stop playback, press the STOP/EJECT button.

2. Recording

The GE 35027 features a built-in condenser microphone for recording. It also includes automatic level control to maintain consistent recording volume.

1. Insert a blank or recordable cassette tape.
2. Press the RECORD button (red button). Simultaneously, the PLAY button will engage.
3. Speak clearly into the built-in microphone.
4. To pause recording, press the PAUSE button. Press it again to resume.
5. To stop recording, press the STOP/EJECT button.

Note: The automatic end-of-tape shutoff feature will stop the recording when the tape reaches its end.

3. Fast Forward and Rewind

To quickly navigate through the tape:

• Press the FAST-FORWARD button to advance the tape quickly.
• Press the REWIND button to reverse the tape quickly.
• Press STOP/EJECT to stop fast-forwarding or rewinding.

4. Digital Tape Counter

The integrated digital tape counter helps track your position on the cassette tape. It resets when the tape is ejected or rewound to the beginning.

5. Headphone Use

For private listening, connect standard 3.5mm headphones to the PHONE jack on the side of the unit. The built-in speaker will automatically mute when headphones are connected.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning

• Wipe the exterior of the recorder with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
• Periodically clean the tape heads and pinch roller using a cotton swab lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol. Ensure the device is powered off and unplugged before cleaning.

2. Battery Replacement

When the sound quality deteriorates or the unit fails to power on with batteries, it is time to replace the batteries. Always replace all four (4) AA batteries at the same time with new ones. Do not mix old and new batteries or different types of batteries.

3. Storage

When not in use for extended periods, remove the batteries to prevent leakage. Store the recorder in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your GE 35027, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

• No Power:
  • Check if the AC adapter is securely plugged into both the unit and the wall outlet.
  • If using batteries, ensure they are inserted correctly with proper polarity and are not depleted. Replace if necessary.
• Tape Not Playing/Recording:
