M/C Solenoid Circuit Diagnosis (Code 23)

Follow these steps to diagnose an open or grounded M/C solenoid circuit:

  1. With ignition "on" and engine stopped, do not ground "test" terminal. Check voltage at M/C solenoid dwell lead after M/C solenoid stops cycling.
  2. Disconnect M/C solenoid. Connect test light from the solenoid connector battery terminal pink lead to ground.
  3. Connect test light between solenoid harness connector terminals. Do not use voltmeter.
  4. Check for an open in the wire from M/C solenoid to dwell connector. If not open, it is a faulty M/C solenoid connection or solenoid.

Note: If diagnostic dwell lead circuit is open, false meter readings of 0° or 60° will result.

Transmission

This section covers automatic and manual transmission service, repair, and overhaul procedures. It includes details for various transmission models and transfer cases.
