Intended Use
The VR253\VR253A Deluxe Commode is a bedside commode designed with the intention of compensating for an injury, illness or overcoming a temporary or permanent disability. The commode provides access to bedside WC facilities where the user is unable to safely negotiate a move to the bathroom but is able to retain an assessed level of independence. Maximum user weight: 250kg (39 stone)
Before Use
- Carefully remove all packaging. Avoid using knives or other sharp instruments as this may damage the surface of the product.
- Check the product for visible damage. If you see any damage or suspect a fault do not use your product and contact your supplier for support.
Important Safety Instructions
When using the commode basic precautions should always be followed.
- Read this manual carefully, ensuring that all instructions are fully understood prior to use. Retain manual for future reference.
- Inspect all parts prior to use, do not use if any sign of damage is seen.
- User should have suitable upper and lower body strength (an assessment by a competent healthcare professional may be required).
- Floors should be clean and level.
- Do not stand on the commode.
- Bucket should only be emptied into a suitable waste receptacle (e.g plumbed WC).
- Do not exceed the maximum user weight: 250kg (39 stone).
- Remove from use should any damage be identified, do not attempt to repair as this may cause injury.

User Instruction
The VR253\VR253A Deluxe Commode is provided fully assembled and ready for use. The commode bucket is situated under the padded seat. The padded seat is hinged to enable ease of use.
To access the commode facility;
- Holding onto the handle at the front of the seat (fig 1)
- Lift the seat (fig 2) and slide backwards until the seat rests at the rear of the seat as per fig 3.
- Remove the lid from the commode bucket (fig 4).
After use;
- Replace the commode bucket lid. Note: the soiled bucket should be emptied and cleaned as soon as possible.
- Using the handle on the front of the seat (fig 5 & fig 6) pull the seat pad toward you until it sits securely in place.
Removing the commode bucket;
The use of disposable gloves is recommended.
- Ensuring that the commode bucket lid is securely in place, locate the bucket handle (fig 7) and carefully lift the bucket straight up (fig 8).
- Empty the bucket into a suitable waste outlet (eg a plumbed WC) and clean using a non-abrasive anti-bacterial cleaning solution.
- Return the bucket and lid to the commode chair for next use.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Please ensure safety checks are undertaken on a regular basis, this should include:
- Checking the condition of the chair it should be removed from use immediately if any cracking of the frame is observed.
- Ensuring that the backrest cushion is secure.
- Check the commode pan/bucket for signs of cracking
- The chair, cushion and pan can be cleaned using a non-abrasive anti-bacterial cleaner with a soft cloth.
