1. Introduction and Overview

The Bisofice Portable Handheld Document Scanner is a versatile and compact device designed for quick and efficient scanning of documents, books, and other materials up to A4 size. It offers high-definition scanning with selectable resolutions of 300, 600, or 900 DPI, producing images that closely resemble the originals. Its portability allows for scanning anywhere, anytime, without the need for a PC or external power supply during operation. Scanned files are saved directly to a Micro SD card in JPG or PDF format, supporting capacities up to 32GB. The device features a plug-and-play design, requiring no driver installation for Windows 7/XP/Vista and iOS 10 or higher systems.

4. Setup

4.1. Installing Batteries

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the scanner.
  2. Open the compartment cover.
  3. Insert two (2) AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-). Batteries are not included in the package.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

4.2. Inserting a Micro SD Card

  1. Locate the Micro SD card slot on the side of the scanner.
  2. Gently insert a Micro SD (TF) card (up to 32GB) into the slot until it clicks into place. Ensure the card is inserted in the correct orientation.
  3. To remove the card, gently push it in until it clicks, then release, and it will eject.

4.3. Connecting to a Computer (Optional)

The scanner is designed for standalone use, but you can connect it to a computer to transfer scanned files.

  1. Ensure the scanner is powered on.
  2. Connect the scanner to your computer using the provided USB cable.
  3. The scanner is plug-and-play and does not require driver installation for Windows 7/XP/Vista and iOS 10 or higher systems. Your computer should recognize it as a removable storage device.
  4. Access the Micro SD card contents through your computer's file explorer.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Powering On/Off

  • To power on: Press and hold the 'Power/Scan' button until the display lights up.
  • To power off: Press and hold the 'Power/Scan' button until the display turns off. The scanner also features an automatic power-off function after 3 minutes of inactivity to conserve battery.

5.2. Adjusting Settings (DPI and File Format)

Use the buttons on the scanner to cycle through resolution (DPI) and file format (JPG/PDF) options. The current settings will be displayed on the TN status panel.

  • DPI Selection: Press the 'DPI' button to switch between 300, 600, and 900 DPI resolutions. Higher DPI provides better image quality but results in larger file sizes and longer scan times.
  • File Format Selection: Press the 'Mode' button to toggle between JPG and PDF file formats.

5.3. Scanning a Document

  1. Place the document you wish to scan on a flat, stable surface.
  2. Hold the scanner firmly with both hands.
  3. Position the scanner at the top edge of the document, ensuring the entire width of the document is covered by the scanner's sensor.
  4. Press the 'Power/Scan' button once to start scanning. The scan indicator light will illuminate.
  5. Slowly and steadily glide the scanner downwards over the document. Maintain even pressure and speed for optimal results.
  6. Once you reach the end of the document, press the 'Power/Scan' button again to stop scanning. The scan indicator light will turn off.
  7. The scanned image will be automatically saved to the Micro SD card in the selected format and resolution.

6. Maintenance

6.1. Cleaning the Scanner

  • Use the provided cleaning cloth to gently wipe the scanner's lens and exterior.
  • Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials, as these can damage the scanner.
  • Ensure the lens is free of dust and smudges for clear scan results.

6.2. Battery Replacement

When the scanner's display indicates low battery or the device fails to power on, replace the AA batteries as described in Section 4.1.

6.3. Storage

When not in use, store the scanner in its carry bag in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
