5. Setup

5.1 Initial Charging

Before installation, fully charge the indoor monitor using the provided Type-C USB cable and a standard 5V 1A/2A power adapter. Do NOT use a PD (Power Delivery) fast charger. The indicator light on the monitor will turn green when fully charged.

5.2 Physical Installation

Ensure your door meets the following requirements:

  • Door Hole Diameter: 15mm to 60mm
  • Door Thickness: 35mm to 145mm

If there is no existing peephole, you will need to drill one according to the specified diameter.

Follow these steps for installation:

  1. Select Screw: Choose a screw that fits the thickness of your door and insert it into the bolt machine.
  2. Pass Cable: Pass the cable from the doorbell camera unit through the peephole from the outside of the door.
  3. Thread Screw: After straightening the cable, thread the screw through the hang plate.
  4. Tighten Screws: Securely tighten the fixed screws in sequence.
  5. Buckle Wire: Buckle the doorbell wire in the correct direction onto the indoor monitor.
  6. Install Host: Install the indoor monitor host onto the hanging plate.

5.3 App Download and Connection

The doorbell camera integrates with the Tuya Smart Life app for remote access and smart features.

  1. Download App: Scan the QR code below or search for "Tuya Smart" or "Smart Life" in your device's app store (Android/iOS).

  2. Open App & Add Device: Open the Tuya Smart Life app. Click "Add device" and select "Camera&Lock" then choose "Smart Doorbell".
  3. Reset Device: Power on the device. Ensure the indicator is flashing quickly or a prompt tone is heard. If not, reset the device using the Home/Reset button on the indoor monitor.
  4. Wi-Fi Connection: Select your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network and enter the password. 5GHz Wi-Fi is NOT supported.
  5. Scan QR Code: The app will display a QR code. Face the doorbell camera lens towards the QR code on your phone screen (15-20cm distance) until you hear a prompt.
  6. Connect: The device will begin connecting. Once successful, you will see the live view in the app.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Live View and Two-Way Audio

When a visitor presses the doorbell button, the indoor monitor will automatically wake up and display the live video feed. You will also receive a notification on your smartphone via the Tuya Smart Life app.

  • Two-Way Audio: Use the microphone and speaker on both the doorbell unit and your smartphone app to communicate with visitors.
  • Volume Adjustment: The doorbell sound volume can be adjusted from 1-100% via the app settings. This allows you to set a low volume to avoid disturbing others, especially at night.

6.2 Motion Detection (PIR)

The built-in PIR sensor detects motion near your door. When motion is detected:

  • You will receive instant notifications on your smartphone.

Note: The indoor monitor screen will NOT automatically turn on when motion is detected. It only activates when the doorbell button is pressed.
