The GLEDOPTO Elite Series GL-C-618WL is an advanced ESP32-based WLED Digital Light Strip Controller designed for versatile and dynamic lighting control. Featuring four independent outputs, it allows for simultaneous control of multiple addressable LED strips. This controller integrates a microphone for audio-reactive lighting, supports both wired (Ethernet) and wireless (WiFi) network connections, and offers robust protection features for reliable operation. This manual provides detailed instructions for setup, operation, and maintenance.

3. Product Overview

The GLEDOPTO Elite Series WLED Controller is designed for comprehensive control of addressable LED strips. It offers multiple input methods for power and connectivity options for network integration.

3.1 Controller Features

3.2 Optional Accessories

3.2.1 IR Sensor Switch (GL-SW-001)

The IR Sensor Switch provides instant response for proximity detection, allowing for automated lighting control. It is small in size, has minimal power draw, and features simple wiring.

3.2.2 Remote Control (GL-RC-001WL)

The intelligent remote control offers convenient wireless operation of your LED strips with a control distance of up to 50 meters. It supports various functions including preset scenes, sleep mode, brightness adjustment, and WiFi control.

4. Setup Instructions

4.1 Power Connection

The controller supports three input methods for power. Choose the most suitable connection for your setup:

  1. V+, V- Power Interface: For direct wire connections.
  2. 5.5x2.1mm DC Socket: For standard DC power adapters.
  3. Type-C Interface: Can be used for power supply (5V, 3A Max with USB wall adapter, not PC USB) and program downloading.

4.2 LED Strip Wiring

The controller features quick-connect port design for convenient wiring. Follow these steps to connect your LED strips:

  1. Open the connector upwards.
  2. Insert the wire, then press down to secure it.
  3. Ensure wiring is complete and secure.

4.3 Network Connection

The controller supports both wired (Ethernet) and wireless (WiFi) network connections for control via the WLED app.

4.3.1 Wired Connection (Ethernet)

Connect an Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on the controller. Ensure your WLED app settings are configured for Ethernet.

4.3.2 Wireless Connection (WiFi)

The controller can connect to your WiFi network. For initial setup or if you need to reconfigure, long press the function button for 10 seconds to activate the WLED-AP hotspot.

4.4 WLED App Installation and Initial Setup

Download the WLED app from your device's app store. Follow the in-app instructions to discover and connect to your GLEDOPTO controller. For independent control of multiple LED strips, configure segment control within the WLED app.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Controller Function Button

The function button on the controller provides quick access to essential operations:

  • Short press: Power on/off.
  • Long press for 1 second: Switch colors.
  • Long press for 10 seconds: Reset the WLED controller and activate the WLED-AP hotspot.

5.2 WLED App Control

The WLED app provides comprehensive control over your LED strips:

  • Segmented Color Control: Personalize every strip segment to display different colors and effects.
  • Dynamic Effects: Choose from over 100 integrated dynamic lighting effects.
  • Sync Lighting: Synchronize lighting effects across multiple LED strips connected to the controller on the same WiFi network.
  • Microphone Configuration: Configure microphone parameters for audio-reactive lighting.

5.3 Remote Control Operation (Optional)

If you have the GL-RC-001WL remote control, you can use it to manage your lighting:

  • ON/OFF: Turn the lights on or off.
  • Brightness Adjustment: Increase or decrease brightness.
  • Color Switching: Cycle through different colors.
  • Night Light: Activate a low-light setting.
  • Preset Scene: Recall pre-configured lighting scenes from the app.
  • Sleep Mode: Activate a gradual dimming or turn-off sequence.

5.4 IR Sensor Switch Operation (Optional)

The GL-SW-001 IR Sensor Switch detects objects within 5cm. It outputs a low signal when an object is detected (occlusion) and a high signal when no object is detected.

5.5 DIY IO13 Port

The IO13 port can be used to connect external push switches or sensors for custom control. The function button on the controller is GPIO 17.

  • Button 0 (GPIO 13):
    • Short press: On/Off
    • Long press 1S: Adjust color
    • Long press 10S: Enter WiFi-AP mode, pop-up hotspot "WLED-AP"
  • Button 1 (GPIO 17 - Function Button):
    • Short press: Adjust mode
    • Double-tap: Adjust color in mode
    • Long press: Adjust brightness

6. Maintenance

6.1 Fuse Replacement

The controller is equipped with a 20A pluggable fuse for overcurrent protection. If the fuse blows due to overcurrent, it can be replaced with a new one. Ensure the replacement fuse has the correct rating (20A).

6.2 Firmware Updates

Firmware updates can be performed via the Type-C port. Ensure you use the correct firmware file (e.g., WLED_X.X.X_ESP32_Ethernet.bin) for your device.

6.3 Cleaning

Wipe the controller and accessories with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.

7. Troubleshooting

  • No Power: Check all power connections. Ensure the input voltage is within DC 5-24V. Verify the fuse is intact; replace if blown.
  • LED Strips Not Lighting Up: Check wiring connections to the LED strips. Ensure the LED strip type is supported by the controller.
  • No Network Connection (WiFi/Ethernet):
    • For WiFi: Long press the function button for 10 seconds to activate the WLED-AP hotspot and reconnect via the WLED app. Ensure the controller is within WiFi range.
    • For Ethernet: Verify the Ethernet cable is securely connected and the WLED app settings are correct for Ethernet.
  • Remote Control Not Responding: Check if batteries (2*AAA 1.5V) are correctly inserted and not depleted. Ensure the remote is within the 50m control distance.
  • Microphone Function Not Working: Ensure microphone parameters are configured in the WLED app and the device has been restarted after configuration.
  • Wiring Error: If there is a wiring error at the input terminal, disconnect power immediately to prevent damage to the circuit.

9. User Tips

  • Segment Control: For advanced lighting effects and independent control of multiple LED strips, make sure to utilize the segment control features within the WLED app. This allows for highly customized lighting zones.
  • Firmware Updates: Regularly check for and apply firmware updates using the Type-C port to ensure optimal performance and access to new features. Always use the official WLED firmware for ESP32 Ethernet devices.
  • Microphone Calibration: If using the audio-reactive features, fine-tune the microphone sensitivity and parameters in the WLED app for the best response to your environment's sound. Remember to restart the device after initial configuration.
  • Power Supply: While the Type-C port can supply power, for stable operation, especially with multiple LED strips, it is recommended to use the V+/V- terminals or the 5.5x2.1mm DC socket with an appropriate power adapter.
