4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Basic Typing and N-Key Rollover
The AK870MC supports full N-key rollover, meaning all keys can be pressed simultaneously without conflict, ensuring every action is precise and smooth, especially crucial for fast-paced gaming or typing.
4.2 Lighting Effects
The keyboard offers 20 kinds of mixed-color lighting effects. These can be cycled through and adjusted using specific key combinations (refer to the keyboard's function layer or included quick guide for exact keybinds, typically Fn + specific keys like F9-F12 or arrow keys).

4.3 Hot-Swappable Switches
The AK870MC features full key hot-swapping, allowing you to easily change mechanical switches without soldering. This enables customization of your typing experience. Note: Switch replacement only supports 3-pin switches.

To replace a switch:
- Use the key puller to gently remove the keycap from the desired switch.
- Use the shaft puller to carefully grip and pull the switch straight up from the PCB.
- Align the pins of the new 3-pin switch with the holes on the PCB and press it firmly until it clicks into place. Ensure the pins are not bent.
- Re-attach the keycap.
5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning the Keyboard
- Disconnect the keyboard from your computer before cleaning.
- Use the provided key puller to remove keycaps for thorough cleaning.
- Wipe the keycaps and keyboard surface with a soft, damp cloth. For stubborn dirt, a small amount of mild soap can be used.
- Use compressed air to remove dust and debris from between the switches.
- Ensure all parts are completely dry before re-connecting the keyboard.
5.2 Keycap and Switch Care
- Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials on keycaps or switches, as this can damage the finish or functionality.
- When removing keycaps or switches, apply gentle, even pressure to prevent damage to the components or the PCB.
6. Troubleshooting
Keyboard Not Responding:
Ensure the USB Type-C cable is securely connected to both the keyboard and the computer. Try plugging the keyboard into a different USB port or a different computer to rule out port or system issues.
Lights Not Working:
Check if the lighting effects are turned off or set to a very dim setting. Use the designated function key combinations (e.g., Fn + F9-F12) to cycle through lighting modes and adjust brightness.
Specific Keys Not Registering:
If only a few keys are not working, the switch under the keycap might be faulty or improperly seated. Use the key puller and shaft puller to remove and re-seat the switch. If the issue persists, consider replacing the switch with a spare (ensure it's a 3-pin switch).
