1. Introduction

The AODELAN E7G is a versatile wireless flash trigger and transceiver designed to provide photographers with efficient and flexible control over their lighting setups. Compatible with Godox and Flashpoint 2.4G wireless systems, it supports single-contact cameras and offers an ultra-long range of up to 650 feet (200 meters). Beyond flash triggering, the E7G can also function as a wired or wireless camera shutter release, enhancing shooting flexibility. Its intuitive design features dedicated buttons for direct control, eliminating the need for complex layered menus.

4. Product Overview

The E7G features a clear OLED screen and dedicated buttons for easy operation.

4.1. Buttons and Dial Functions:

  • Buzz button: Press to turn on/off the buzz of the flash unit(s) being controlled when it is fully recycled.
  • Model button: Press to turn the modeling light of the flash unit(s) on/off.
  • Group buttons (A/B/C/D/E): Press to select the group for adjustment.
  • TEST button: Press to manually transmit a sync signal to trigger the flash unit to fire to verify proper communication.
  • Dial: Turn to adjust the flash power for the selected group.
  • Center button: Press to enter the menu display of E7G.
  • Power button: Press and hold to power the E7G on or off.

4.2. Ports and Mount:

  • Hot Shoe Mount: For mounting on a camera. Features a dustproof rubber ring.
  • IN Connector (Ø3.5 mini jack): For wired camera shutter release.
  • OUT Connector (Ø3.5 mini jack): For connecting to older flash units as a receiver.
  • USB Type-C Connector: For external power supply and firmware upgrades.

5. Setup

5.1. Powering the Device

  • Battery Power: Insert two AAA (1.5V) batteries into the battery compartment for on-the-go portability.
  • External Power: Connect the E7G's USB Type-C port to an external power source using the provided USB Type-C cable. This allows for non-stop studio work, even without batteries.

5.2. Mounting to Camera

Slide the E7G's hot shoe mount onto your camera's hot shoe until it clicks into place. Ensure it is securely fastened. The E7G features a center single-contact hot shoe mount, compatible with most DSLR and mirrorless cameras with a standard ISO hot shoe interface.

Note: A few cameras with standard hot-shoe do not support single-contact triggers, such as Canon EOS Rebel SL3 (EOS 250D / 2000D II / Kiss X10), EOS Rebel T100 (EOS 4000D / 3000D), R50, R50V, V1; Nikon P1000.

5.3. Connecting to Flash Units (Transceiver Function)

The E7G can act as both a transmitter (TX) and a receiver (RX). To use it as a receiver for older flash units without built-in radio systems, connect the E7G's OUT connector to the sync port of the flash unit. This integrates the flash into the Godox/Flashpoint lighting system.

  • Wired Shutter Release: Set one E7G to Receive mode (RX). Connect the IN port of the E7G (RX) to the shutter remote terminal on the camera using an appropriate shutter cable (sold separately). Press and hold the TEST button on the E7G (RX) to release the camera shutter.
  • Wireless Shutter Release: Set one E7G to Transmit mode (TX) and another to Receive mode (RX). Set both E7Gs to the same channel. Press and hold the TEST button on the E7G (TX) to wirelessly release the camera shutter. The E7G (RX) can be operated to release the camera shutter by connecting it to the camera shutter remote terminal. It can be operated without being mounted on the camera's hot shoe.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Power On/Off

Press and hold the Power button (Power button icon) for a few seconds to turn the E7G on or off.

6.2. Adjusting Flash Power

Once a group is selected (A, B, C, D, or E), turn the Dial to adjust the flash power for that specific group. The OLED screen will display the current power value.

The E7G supports 5 independent lighting groups (A-E). Press the corresponding Group button (A, B, C, D, or E) to select a group. When using multiple lights, each group's power can be adjusted individually for richer light and shadow layering.

6.4. Channel and ID Settings

The E7G offers 32 channels and 99 IDs (1-99) for anti-interference. To access these settings, press the Center button to enter the menu. Navigate using the Dial and confirm with the Center button. Ensure your E7G and flash units are set to the same channel and ID to prevent interference, especially in multi-light setups.

Note: It can only be used when the flash units have the wireless ID setting function. If they do not, set the ID to OFF.

6.5. Modeling Light and Beep Control

  • Modeling Light: Press the Model button (Model button icon) to turn the modeling light of the flash unit(s) on or off.
  • Beep: Press the Buzz button (Buzz button icon) to turn on/off the beep sound from the flash unit(s) when they are recycled.

6.6. Test Flash

Press the TEST button to manually trigger the flash unit(s) and verify communication.

6.7. Transmit/Receive Mode Switching and Distance Settings

  • TX (Transmitting mode): The E7G acts as a trigger, sending signals to flash units.
  • RX (Receiving mode): The E7G acts as a receiver, receiving signals from another E7G or compatible trigger.
  • Distance Settings:
    • 0-1m: Select when the E7G is relatively close to the flash unit (within 1 meter).
    • 1-200m: Select when remotely controlling from a distance (more than 1 meter). This setting optimizes signal transmission for longer ranges, up to 650 feet (200 meters) in open space without interference.

7. Compatibility

7.1. Camera Compatibility (Single-Contact Hot Shoe)

The AODELAN E7G is designed with a center single-contact hot shoe mount, making it compatible with most DSLR and Mirrorless cameras featuring a standard ISO hot shoe interface. This includes, but is not limited to, cameras from:

  • Canon
  • Nikon
  • Sony (excluding Multi Interface Shoe without central contact)
  • Minolta
  • Olympus
  • Panasonic
  • Pentax
  • Fujifilm

Note: The E7G does not support TTL or HSS. Some cameras with standard hot-shoe do not support single-contact triggers, such as Canon EOS Rebel SL3 (EOS 250D / 2000D II / Kiss X10), EOS Rebel T100 (EOS 4000D / 3000D), R50, R50V, V1; Nikon P1000.

7.2. Flash Compatibility (Godox & Flashpoint 2.4G Wireless Systems)

The E7G is compatible with Godox 2.4G Wireless X System and Flashpoint 2.4GHz R2 Radio Remote System. Synchronization triggering and manual adjustment are supported; TTL is not supported.

For older flash units (without built-in radio systems) or flash units from other brands, synchronization can be achieved by connecting to the E7G in receiving mode (RX) via the sync port.

9. Troubleshooting

  • Flash not firing:
    • Ensure the E7G is powered on and batteries are charged/external power is connected.
    • Verify the E7G is securely mounted on the camera's hot shoe.
    • Check that the E7G and flash units are set to the same channel and ID.
    • Confirm the flash unit is powered on and in a compatible mode (e.g., manual mode).
    • Press the TEST button on the E7G to manually trigger the flash.
    • Check camera compatibility (refer to Section 7.1).
  • Shutter release not working:
    • Ensure the E7G (RX) is connected to the camera's remote terminal with the correct cable.
    • For wireless release, ensure both E7Gs are powered on, set to TX/RX modes respectively, and on the same channel.
    • Press and hold the TEST button on the E7G (TX) or E7G (RX) for wired release.
  • Interference issues:
    • Change the channel and/or ID settings on both the E7G and flash units.
    • Ensure the distance setting (Far/Near) is appropriate for your shooting environment.
  • Screen not displaying:
    • Check battery level or external power connection.
    • Try turning the device off and on again.

10. User Tips

  • For optimal range and stability, especially in outdoor environments, ensure the E7G's distance setting is set to '1-200m'.
  • When using multiple flash units, utilize the 5 independent groups (A-E) to quickly adjust power levels for different lights without navigating through complex menus.
  • If experiencing signal issues in crowded environments, try cycling through the 32 channels and 99 IDs to find a clear frequency.
  • Keep the firmware updated via the USB Type-C port to ensure optimal performance and access to new features.

11. Maintenance

  • Clean the device regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.
  • Ensure the hot shoe contacts are clean and free of debris for reliable connection.
  • When not in use for extended periods, remove the AAA batteries to prevent leakage.
  • Store the E7G in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
