3. Setup

3.1. Initial Charging

Before first use, fully charge your Mini Pocket Amp. Connect the supplied USB Type-C cable to the device's USB port and the other end to a USB power adapter (5V 2A recommended) or a computer's USB port. The charging indicator light will be red while charging and turn green when fully charged.

3.2. Connecting Your Instrument and Audio Output

  1. Connect your guitar or bass to the IN (1/4" mono jack) port on the Mini Pocket Amp.
  2. For silent practice, connect headphones to the Headphone Output (1/8" stereo jack).
  3. To connect to an amplifier or mixing console, use a 1/4" mono cable from the OUT port to your desired audio input.

3.3. Mobile App and PC Software Installation

To unlock the full potential of your Mini Pocket Amp, download and install the dedicated mobile application (for iOS/Android) or PC control software (for Windows/macOS).

  • Mobile App: Search for "M-VAVE" or "Pocket Amp" in your device's app store.
  • PC Software (M-EFCS): Visit the official M-VAVE website to download the latest version.

Connect the Mini Pocket Amp to your mobile device via Bluetooth or to your computer via the USB Type-C cable for app/software control and firmware updates.

3.4. Clamp Installation (Optional)

The included clamp allows you to attach the Pocket Amp to your guitar or other surfaces. Follow these steps for installation:

  1. Locate the screw holes on the back of the Pocket Amp and the clamp.
  2. Align the clamp with the holes and secure it using the provided screws.
  3. Attach the Pocket Amp with the clamp to your guitar's strap button or other suitable location.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Controls and Functions

  1. 1.54-inch Color Display: Shows preset information, battery level, and effect parameters.
  2. Master Knob: Controls the final output volume. Also adjusts Bluetooth volume and USB input gain when selected.
  3. PARA Knob (Push Rotary Encoder): Rotate to select items or adjust parameters. Push to confirm selection. A 1-second long press enters the "Save to Preset" saving interface, and a 2-second long press exits the "Save to Preset" saving interface. When in the move toy or swap toy interface, a short press of the HOME key exits the saving interface and returns to the main interface.
  4. Wireless Indicator & BT (On/Off BT Status Light): Shows the status of Bluetooth connection.
  5. HOME Button: Short press returns to the main interface. A long press turns the BT mode on/off. The key light indicates BT is connected (steady blue) or not connected (slow flashing).
  6. VOL- / VOL+ Buttons: Decreases/increases the preset volume by 5. When pressed simultaneously, the tuner mode is activated.
  7. Left/Right Arrow Buttons: Used to select the previous/next preset (scroll down/up). In BANK mode, pressing the arrows simultaneously switches to the previous/next BANK (BANK -1 / BANK +1).
  8. Power Switch: Turns the device on/off.
  9. USB Port (Type-C): For power supply, data transmission, audio interface, and OTG direct recording.
  10. Headphone Output: 3.5mm stereo jack for silent practice.
  11. IN: 1/4" mono jack for guitar/bass signal input.
  12. OUT: 1/4" mono jack to connect to an amplifier or mixing console.
  13. Charging Indicator Light: Red when charging, green when fully charged.

4.2. Basic Operation

  • Power On/Off: Press and hold the Power Switch (8) to turn the unit on or off.
  • Selecting Presets: Use the Left/Right Arrow Buttons (7) to navigate through presets.
  • Adjusting Volume: Use the VOL- / VOL+ Buttons (6) to adjust the output volume. The Master Knob (2) also controls overall output.
  • Editing Parameters: Rotate the PARA Knob (3) to select an effect or parameter on the screen, then push it to confirm and rotate again to adjust the value.
  • Saving Presets: After adjusting parameters, long press the PARA Knob (3) to enter the "Save to Preset" interface. Follow the on-screen prompts to save your custom tone.
  • BANK Mode: The Mini Pocket Amp supports 4 presets per group (BANK). When the yellow light of the first preset illuminates on the bottom, pressing VOL- / VOL+ simultaneously activates tuner mode. When in BANK mode, pressing the Left/Right Arrow Buttons (7) simultaneously switches between banks.
  • Tuner Function: Press VOL- and VOL+ buttons simultaneously to activate the built-in tuner. The display will show the note and tuning accuracy.

4.3. Advanced Functions

  • Mobile App/PC Software Control: For detailed tone editing, preset management, and firmware updates, connect the Mini Pocket Amp to its dedicated mobile app or PC software. These interfaces offer a more visual and comprehensive way to customize your effects chain, adjust parameters, and manage your preset library.
  • OTG Direct Recording: Connect the Mini Pocket Amp to your mobile device (Android/iOS) using the USB Type-C cable and a separately purchased OTG adapter. Use a mobile app that supports real-time synchronized audio/video recording to capture your performance directly. The device functions as a sound card.
  • MIDI Pedal Expansion: The Mini Pocket Amp supports wired/wireless connection to MIDI pedal expansion footswitches (sold separately), such as the M-VAVE Chocolate Plus MIDI Pedal. This allows for hands-free control over presets, effects, and other functions during live performance.

5. User Tips

  • Explore Effect Chains: Don't be afraid to experiment with the order of the 6 movable effect modules. Changing the chain can drastically alter your tone.
  • Utilize the Apps: While the device controls are intuitive, the mobile app and PC software offer a much deeper level of control and visual feedback for crafting your perfect sound.
  • Backup Your Presets: Regularly save your custom presets using the PC software to avoid losing your carefully crafted tones.
  • Practice Silently: The headphone output is excellent for practicing without disturbing others. Adjust the headphone volume using the Master knob.
  • Stay Updated: Check the M-VAVE website periodically for firmware updates, which may introduce new features or improve performance.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the device. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Battery Care: To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the unit frequently. If storing for an extended period, charge the battery to about 50% and recharge every few months.
  • Software Updates: Keep your device's firmware and associated mobile/PC software updated to ensure optimal performance and access to the latest features. Refer to the M-VAVE website for update instructions.
  • Storage: Store the Mini Pocket Amp in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Device Not Powering On:
    • Ensure the battery is charged. Connect the device to a power source using the USB Type-C cable.
    • Verify the power switch is fully engaged.
  • No Sound Output:
    • Check all cable connections (instrument input, amplifier/headphone output).
    • Ensure the Master volume knob is turned up.
    • Verify that the instrument's volume is not muted or too low.
    • Check if any effects are bypassed or set to a very low output level.
    • If using headphones, ensure they are properly plugged into the 1/8" stereo jack.
  • Bluetooth Connection Issues:
    • Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your mobile device and the Mini Pocket Amp (long press HOME button).
    • Try unpairing and re-pairing the device in your mobile device's Bluetooth settings.
    • Make sure no other devices are currently connected to the Pocket Amp via Bluetooth.
  • App/PC Software Not Connecting:
    • For mobile app, ensure Bluetooth is connected.
    • For PC software, ensure the USB Type-C cable is securely connected and the correct drivers (if any) are installed.
    • Restart the app/software and the Pocket Amp.
  • Unwanted Noise/Hum:
    • Check for faulty cables.
    • Ensure proper grounding of your amplifier and power supply.
    • Adjust the Noise Gate effect within the Pocket Amp's settings.
