3. Setup and Installation
Magnetic Grating Ruler Components:
The magnetic grating ruler consists of 3 parts with a total thickness of 1.8mm and a width of 10mm. It is supplied in a 50M roll package.
- Flexible Magnetic Ruler (A): The core magnetic component.
- Non-magnetic Steel Strip (B): Provides structural support.
- Protective Steel Strip (C): Protects the flexible magnetic ruler (A).

Adhesive Magnetic Strip Installation:
The thin ruler strip must be adhered to a clean, dry, and flat surface. For cleaning, a mixture of 50% alcohol and 50% water or heptane is recommended (refer to manufacturer's tips for solvent contact). Ensure surfaces like copper or brass are clean and free of any oxide layer before adhesion.
Read Head Installation:

- Distance Control: The distance between the read head and the magnetic ruler must be controlled between 0.8mm and 1.0mm.
- Alignment: When installing the read head, pay attention to the read head mark and align it with the inductive magnetic ruler according to the arrow direction.
- Angle Deviation: Ensure the read head installation angle deviation meets the requirements shown in Figure 5 (e.g., +/-3mm, +/-5 degrees, +/-1.5 degrees).
- Feeler Gauge: Use a 0.8mm thick feeler gauge during installation. Remove it after the read head is securely mounted to sense the magnetic strip.
Precautions:
- The standard distance between the read head and the magnetic tape is 1mm.
- If the installation deviation is too large, it will affect measurement accuracy or even render the product unusable.
- The bending radius of the read head sensor cable must be greater than 25mm.
- The device should be installed more than 0.5 meters away from circuit breakers, relays, motor capacitors, brakes, pulse width modulators, and similar equipment.
- Cable routing must be separated from power lines to reduce noise interference.

5. Maintenance
Battery Replacement:
The MA06LS uses two AA batteries. When the low battery indicator appears on the display, replace the batteries immediately. To avoid data loss, replace them one by one.
Cleaning:
Keep the magnetic strip and read head clean and free of debris. Use a soft, dry cloth. If necessary, a 50% alcohol and 50% water mixture or heptane can be used for cleaning the magnetic strip, ensuring no oxide layers remain on metal surfaces.
Storage:
Store the device in a dry environment within the specified operating temperature range (-20℃ to 70℃) when not in use for extended periods.
6. Troubleshooting
Error Prompts:
| Error Code | Description | Suggested Action |
|---|---|---|
| E01 | Sensor fault. | Check sensor connection and integrity. |
| E02, E03 | Sensor damage. | Replace the sensor. |
| E04 | Magnetic strip detection failed: No magnetic strip, magnetic strip damaged, or read head too far from magnetic strip. | Verify magnetic strip presence and condition. Adjust read head distance (0.8-1.0mm). |
| E05 | Battery power too low. | Replace AA batteries immediately, one by one. |
| E06 | Read head too close to magnetic tape. | Adjust read head distance to 0.8-1.0mm. |
| E07 | Read head too far from magnetic tape. | Adjust read head distance to 0.8-1.0mm. |
| E08 | Measured value exceeds display range. | Ensure measurements are within -99999 to 99999. |
General Troubleshooting:
- If the display is blank, check battery power and ensure they are correctly inserted.
- If readings are inconsistent, verify the read head-to-magnetic strip gap and ensure proper alignment.
- Ensure no strong electromagnetic interference sources are near the device.
7. User Tips
- For optimal accuracy, always ensure the magnetic strip and read head are clean and free of dust or oil.
- When performing adaptive calibration (P03), move the sensor slowly and consistently over the magnetic strip for the recommended distance.
- If you frequently switch between measurement units or modes, consider noting down the relevant parameter numbers (P10, P13) and their password (1234) for quick access.
- To prolong battery life, enable the timed screen off function (P15) if not actively monitoring measurements.
