4. Setup
4.1 Battery Installation
The KAIWEETS HT208D requires 3 AAA batteries for operation. To install or replace batteries:
- Ensure the meter is turned OFF.
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the meter (refer to Figure 2.1).
- Use a screwdriver to loosen the screw(s) securing the battery cover.
- Remove the cover and insert 3 AAA batteries, observing the correct polarity (+ and -) as indicated inside the compartment.
- Replace the battery cover and tighten the screw(s).
4.2 Connecting Test Leads and Thermocouple
For voltage, resistance, capacitance, diode, continuity, and temperature measurements, connect the test leads or thermocouple to the input jacks:
- Insert the red test lead into the "VΩHz" jack.
- Insert the black test lead into the "COM" jack.
- For temperature measurements, connect the K-type thermocouple to the "VΩHz" (positive) and "COM" (negative) jacks, ensuring correct polarity.
5. Operating Instructions
Turn the rotary switch to the desired function. Use the "FUNC" button to cycle through sub-functions if available (e.g., AC/DC voltage, diode/continuity).
5.1 AC/DC Voltage Measurement
- Turn the rotary switch to the "V" position.
- Press the "FUNC" button to select between AC (~) or DC (---) voltage.
- Connect the test leads in parallel to the circuit or component under test.
- Read the voltage value on the display.

5.2 AC/DC Current Measurement (Clamp)
- Turn the rotary switch to the "A" position (AC or DC current).
- Press the "FUNC" button to select between AC (~) or DC (---) current.
- Open the clamp jaw and enclose only one conductor of the circuit. Ensure the jaw is fully closed.
- Read the current value on the display.

5.3 Inrush Current Measurement
The Inrush function helps identify startup issues in motors or circuits by capturing the peak current during startup. This function is only available in AC mode.
- Turn the rotary switch to the "A~" (AC Current) position.
- Press the "INRUSH" button. The display will show "INRUSH".
- Open the clamp jaw and enclose only one AC conductor of the circuit.
- Activate the device or motor to be tested. The meter will capture the inrush current over approximately 100ms.
- Read the inrush current value on the display.

5.4 Resistance, Capacitance, Diode, and Continuity Measurement
- Turn the rotary switch to the "Ω" position.
- Press the "FUNC" button to cycle through Resistance (Ω), Diode (▶|), or Continuity ())) modes.
- Connect the test leads to the component under test.
- Read the measurement on the display. For continuity, a beep indicates a continuous circuit.

5.5 Frequency and Duty Cycle Measurement
- Turn the rotary switch to the "Hz%" position.
- Press the "FUNC" button to select between Frequency (Hz) or Duty Cycle (%).
- Connect the test leads to the signal source.
- Read the measurement on the display.
5.6 Temperature Measurement
- Turn the rotary switch to the "TEMP" position.
- Connect the K-type thermocouple to the "VΩHz" (positive) and "COM" (negative) jacks.
- Place the thermocouple tip on or near the object whose temperature is to be measured.
- Read the temperature on the display. Press "FUNC" to switch between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F).
5.7 Non-Contact Voltage (NCV) Detection
- Turn the rotary switch to the "NCV/LIVE" position.
- Move the top of the meter near a conductor or outlet.
- The meter will beep and the LED indicator will flash if AC voltage is detected.

5.8 VFD and LoZ Modes
- VFD (Variable Frequency Drive): Select the AC Voltage or AC Current function, then press the "VFD" button to activate VFD mode. This mode filters out high-frequency noise and measures the fundamental frequency of variable frequency drives.
- LoZ (Low Input Impedance): Select the AC Voltage function, then press the "LOZ" button to activate LoZ mode. This mode provides a low impedance input to drain ghost voltages, giving more accurate readings in certain applications.
5.9 Button Functions
- FUNC: Cycles through sub-functions (e.g., AC/DC, Diode/Continuity).
- RAN: Switches between auto-ranging and manual ranging. Press and hold for 2 seconds to return to auto-ranging.
- MAX/MIN: Displays the maximum or minimum measured value.
- REL/ZERO: Relative measurement mode or zeroing the display for capacitance/resistance.
- INRUSH: Activates Inrush current measurement (AC mode only).
- HOLD/LIGHT: Short press to hold the current reading. Long press to turn the backlight on/off.
- VFD: Activates Variable Frequency Drive mode.
- LOZ: Activates Low Input Impedance mode.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning
Wipe the meter with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use abrasives or solvents. Keep the input terminals free of dirt and moisture.
6.2 Battery Replacement
When the low battery indicator appears on the display, replace the batteries as described in Section 4.1. Remove batteries if the meter is not used for an extended period.
6.3 Storage
Store the meter in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Use the provided clamp meter bag for protection.
7. Troubleshooting
If the meter does not function correctly, check the following:
- No display or dim display: Check battery level and replace if necessary.
- Incorrect readings:
- Ensure the test leads are correctly inserted and not damaged.
- Verify the rotary switch is set to the correct function and range.
- For current measurements, ensure only one conductor is within the clamp jaw.
- Check for external interference or strong magnetic fields.
- Meter does not respond: Turn the meter off and then on again. If the issue persists, remove and reinsert the batteries.

9. User Tips
- Remember that the Inrush current function is specifically designed for AC circuits and will not operate in DC mode.
- For accurate temperature readings, ensure the K-type thermocouple is properly connected and in good contact with the surface being measured.
- When using the clamp for current measurements, always isolate the single conductor you wish to measure. Clamping around multiple conductors (e.g., a power cord with live and neutral) will result in a zero or incorrect reading.
