4. Setup and Installation

IMPORTANT: The S830 Display and Brushless Controller must match the 2 communication protocol for proper operation. Ensure all connections are secure before powering on.

4.1 Wiring Connections

Refer to the following diagrams for correct wiring. Ensure each wire is connected to its corresponding function.

Display Connection Wires:

  • Red (VCC): Display power wire
  • Blue (K): Controller power control wire
  • Black (GND): Display ground
  • Green (RX): Display data receiving line
  • Yellow (TX): Display data transmission line

Optional Light Wiring:

  • Brown wire (DD): Light positive (+)
  • White wire (GND): Light negative (-)

5. Operating Instructions

The S830 Display offers powerful and easy-to-operate functions for your electric vehicle.

5.1 Basic Operations

  • Turn On/Off: Long press the 'M' key to turn the display on or off.
  • Gear Adjustment: Use the 'Up' button to increase the gear and the 'Down' button to reduce the gear.
  • Headlight Control: Long press the 'Up' arrow key to turn on/off the headlights. The headlight icon will light up when active.
  • Cruise Control: Long press the 'Down' arrow key to turn on/off cruise control. The cruise control icon will light up when active.

5.2 LCD Display Function Settings (P-Codes)

To enter mode selection, long press two buttons simultaneously. Navigate through the settings using the up/down buttons and confirm with the 'M' button. Long press two buttons again to exit mode selection.

  • P01: Meter backlight brightness (1-3 levels)
  • P02: Mileage unit (0: KM, 1: MILE)
  • P03: Voltage level (Base operating voltage)
  • P04: Sleep Time (0: no-sleep, unit: min)
  • P05: Assist position (0, 3, 1, 5 modes)
  • P06: Wheel Diameter (unit: inch, Accuracy: 0.1)
  • P07: Number of speed magnets (range: 1-100) - Note: This setting is for display only and does not affect actual speed.
  • P08: Speed Limit (Range: 0-50km/h, 50: Unlimited speed) - When speed is higher than setting, turn off PWM output.
  • P09: Zero or non-zero start (0: zero start, 1: non-zero start)
  • P10: Drive Mode setting (0: Power Drive, throttle invalid; 1: Electric throttle Drive mode, Assist invalid; 2: Both assist and throttle are effective)
  • P11: Boost sensitivity setting (range: 1-24)
  • P12: Boost start strength setting (range: 1-5)
  • P13: PAS Assist Type Setting (5/8/12) - Single Hall PAS: Set to 5/8, Double Hall PAS: Set to 12
  • P16: ODO clear (long press up button for 5 seconds to clear)

6. Maintenance

  • Waterproof Protection: The S830 Display has an IP65 waterproof rating. When using it in rainy conditions, ensure the USB rubber stopper is completely closed and wipe it dry in time after use to prevent water ingress.
  • Cleaning: Clean the display and controller with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Connection Checks: Periodically check all wiring connections to ensure they are secure and free from corrosion or damage.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues, check the following:

  • Display Not Turning On: Ensure the main power to your e-bike/scooter is on and all connections to the display are secure.
  • Error Codes: The display may show error codes (e.g., E 06, E 07 as seen in the video). Consult the controller's specific error code documentation or contact support for interpretation.
  • Incorrect Speed/Mileage: Verify P02 (Mileage unit) and P06 (Wheel Diameter) settings are correct for your setup.
  • No Assist/Throttle Response: Check P09 (Start mode) and P10 (Drive Mode) settings. Ensure the PAS sensor and throttle connections are secure.

8. User Tips

  • Speed Limit Adjustment: If you need to adjust the maximum speed, refer to the P08 setting in the LCD display functions. Be aware of local regulations regarding e-bike speed limits.
  • Communication Protocol: Always ensure your display and controller are compatible and use the same communication protocol to avoid functionality issues.
