Operating Instructions
Basic Key Functions
The keyboard operates as a standard QWERTY layout. Refer to your specific model for any unique key placements or secondary functions accessible via the 'Fn' key.
Backlight Control
Your keyboard features either Ice-Blue single backlighting or 16.8 million color RGB backlighting. Lighting modes and brightness can typically be adjusted using key combinations (e.g., Fn + arrow keys or dedicated lighting keys) or through the QMK/VIA software.
QMK/VIA Customization
QMK/VIA allows for extensive customization of your keyboard's layout and functions. You can remap keys, create macros, and configure layers. One notable feature is the Tap-Hold function:

Figure 2: QMK/VIA Tap-Hold Function
- Tap (Short Press): Performs a primary function (e.g., Spacebar).
- Hold (Long Press): Performs a secondary function (e.g., Shift, Fn, Menu, Ctrl).
This function can be arbitrarily set to your most commonly used key or key combination functions via the QMK/VIA software.
Knob Functionality
- GK21 Model: The knob on the GK21 is hot-swappable, allowing for replacement or addition of up to 4 knobs.
- GK68/GK75/GK87 Models: The knob on these models is not designed for disassembly or replacement.

Maintenance
Keycap Replacement
The keyboard features durable PBT keycaps with dual-color injection molding, resistant to fading and scratches. To replace keycaps, gently pull them upwards using a keycap puller. Align new keycaps with the switch stem and press down firmly until secure.
Switch Replacement (Hot-Swappable)
This keyboard supports hot-swappable switches, compatible with most 3/5-pin mechanical switches. To replace a switch:
- Power off the keyboard and disconnect the USB-C cable.
- Using a switch puller, carefully grip the top and bottom clips of the switch and pull upwards to remove it.
- Align the pins of the new switch with the holes on the PCB. Ensure the pins are straight to avoid bending.
- Gently press the new switch into place until it clicks securely.

Cleaning
Regularly clean your keyboard to maintain performance and appearance. Use a soft brush or compressed air to remove dust and debris from between keycaps. For stubborn dirt, lightly dampen a cloth with water or a mild cleaning solution and wipe the keycaps and casing. Avoid spraying liquids directly onto the keyboard.
Troubleshooting
- Keyboard Not Responding: Ensure the USB-C cable is securely connected to both the keyboard and your computer. Try a different USB port or cable.
- Backlight Not Working/Incorrect: Check the keyboard's lighting controls (Fn key combinations) to ensure the backlight is enabled and set to the desired mode/brightness. If using QMK/VIA, verify your lighting configuration.
- Keys Not Registering: If a specific key is not working, it might be a faulty switch. Utilize the hot-swappable feature to replace the switch. If multiple keys are affected, check QMK/VIA for any accidental remapping or layer changes.
- QMK/VIA Configuration Issues: Ensure you have downloaded the correct JSON file for your specific keyboard model and backlight type (IceBlue or RGB). Incorrect firmware or configuration files can lead to unexpected behavior.

User Tips
- Layout Considerations: For users seeking specific layouts like ISO (Spanish or with a large Enter key), please note that this keyboard series primarily features an ANSI layout. Customization via QMK/VIA may allow for some remapping, but physical layout changes are not supported.
- Cost-Effectiveness: Consider bundled purchases for the GK21 with other models (GK68, GK75, GK87) for potential cost savings. Inquire with the seller for combined purchase options.
- Backlight Choice: If RGB lighting is not a priority for your setup, the single light (IceBlue) versions of the keyboards offer a more budget-friendly option while still providing illumination.
