9. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your doorbell, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Device not connecting to App:
    - Ensure your WiFi is 2.4GHz, not 5GHz.
    - Make sure the doorbell's indicator light is flashing rapidly before attempting to connect.
    - Verify that your phone and the doorbell are on the same network (for wired connection setup).
    - Try resetting the device by pressing the reset button for 3 seconds.
  • No push notifications:
    - Check your phone's app notification settings to ensure they are enabled for Tuya Smart/Smart Life.
    - Verify that motion detection and call notifications are enabled in the doorbell's app settings.
    - Ensure the doorbell has a stable internet connection.
  • Poor video quality:
    - Check your internet connection speed. A weak signal can affect video streaming.
    - Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from obstructions.
  • Unlock function not working:
    - Ensure the optional unlock control module is correctly wired and paired with the doorbell and remote control.
    - Verify that the electronic door lock is compatible and properly connected.
  • Device goes offline frequently:
    - Check the strength of your WiFi signal at the doorbell's location. Consider moving your router closer or using a WiFi extender.
    - Ensure the power supply is stable.
  • "The Indicator light changed from flashing to regular, but it still fails to connect?"
    - This often indicates a network configuration issue. Double-check your WiFi password and ensure there are no firewall restrictions. You may need to consult the app's FAQ or contact support.

For further assistance, you can access the "FAQ & Feedback" section within the Tuya Smart/Smart Life app or contact customer support.

10. User Tips

  • Event-Based Recording: The doorbell records video after a call or motion detection. It does not support 24/7 continuous recording.
  • Optimal WiFi Placement: For best performance, ensure the doorbell is installed in an area with strong 2.4GHz WiFi signal.
  • Regular App Checks: Periodically check the Tuya Smart/Smart Life app for new features, firmware updates, and to manage your device settings.
  • Power Options: Consider using the 48V POE (Power over Ethernet) option for a more stable and reliable power and network connection, especially for longer cable runs.
