Setup Instructions

  1. Power Connection: Connect the included 200W power adapter to the 'DC In' port on the back of the docking station and then plug it into a power outlet. Ensure the power connection is maintained for proper operation.

  2. Driver Installation (for HDMI/DP ports): Before using the HDMI/DisplayPort video outputs, please download and install the latest DisplayLink driver from displaylink.com. If a driver CD is included, you may use that as well.

  3. Connect to Host Laptop: Connect one end of the Thunderbolt 4 cable to the 'Upstream Thunderbolt 4 Port' on the front of the docking station and the other end to a Thunderbolt 4 port on your laptop. This single connection provides power (up to 98W), data, and video to your laptop.

  4. Connect External Displays:

    • For single 8K@30Hz or dual 4K@60Hz displays, connect your monitors to the 'Downstream Thunderbolt 4 Ports' on the back.
    • For additional 4K@60Hz displays, connect monitors to the 'DisplayPort' and 'HDMI' ports on the back.
    • Note: Each video stream group (DisplayPort or HDMI) allows the use of only one port at a time. For quad 4K@60Hz output, combine two video streams with any two downstream Thunderbolt 4 ports.

Operating Instructions

Display Modes

The docking station supports both Mirror and Extend display modes for Windows and Mac systems.

  • Extend Mode: Expands your desktop across multiple screens, providing more workspace for multitasking.
  • Mirror Mode: Duplicates your primary display onto external monitors, ideal for presentations.

Note for M1/M2-chip Mac: M1/M2-chip Macs support only one video output from the three Thunderbolt 4 ports. However, the HDMI/DP ports function normally, allowing for multi-monitor setups by utilizing these ports in conjunction with the single Thunderbolt 4 video output.

Charging Capabilities

  • Host Charging: The upstream Thunderbolt 4 port delivers up to 98W Power Delivery (PD) to charge your connected laptop.
  • Peripheral Charging: The three downstream Thunderbolt 4 ports provide 15W PD each, suitable for charging devices like tablets and smartphones. One USB 3.1 fast charging port also supports offline charging.

Troubleshooting

  • No Display Output:
    • Ensure the DisplayLink driver is installed for HDMI/DP ports.
    • Verify that your computer's USB-C port supports DP1.4 for 8K display.
    • Check all cable connections (Thunderbolt, HDMI, DisplayPort) are secure.
    • Confirm that only one port is used per video stream group (DisplayPort or HDMI).
    • For M1/M2 Mac users, remember that only one video output is supported from the three Thunderbolt 4 ports.
  • Charging Issues:
    • Ensure the 200W power adapter is correctly connected to the dock and a power outlet.
    • Check if your laptop supports Power Delivery via its Thunderbolt port.
  • Slow Data Transfer:
    • Ensure you are using the provided Thunderbolt 4 cable.
    • Verify that your connected devices and cables support the advertised speeds (e.g., 10Gbps USB-A devices with 10Gbps ports).
  • Network Connectivity Problems:
    • Check the Ethernet cable connection.
    • Ensure your network router/modem is functioning correctly.
  • General Performance Issues:
    • Restart your laptop and the docking station.
    • Ensure your laptop's operating system is up to date.
    • For USB-C non-Thunderbolt 3/4 laptops, performance may be limited.
  • HDCP Not Supported: The dock does not support HDCP. This may affect playback of protected content on connected displays.
