5. Installation and Setup
5.1. Choosing the Best Installation Position
Proper placement of the sensor is crucial for accurate readings. Refer to Figure 3 for guidance:
- Avoid placing the sensor directly above original tank compartments (A, B), float fuel sensors, or return pipes.
- Do not place the sensor within the float range of the original fuel tube (C).
- Avoid placing the sensor directly under the refueling port (D).
- The best position for installation is typically a flat, unobstructed area on the bottom of the tank (E), away from internal structures or fuel flow disturbances.

5.2. Wiring Diagram
Connect the sensor and control box according to the following wiring instructions:
- Red Wire (Power +): Connect to a DC9~36V power source.
- Black Wire (Power Ground): Connect to vehicle/system ground.
- Yellow Wire (Output to Fuel Gauge): Connect to the input of your fuel gauge.
- Green Wire (Ultrasonic Fuel Sensor): Connects the sensor unit to the control box.

5.3. Physical Installation Steps
- Prepare the Surface: Identify the best installation position on the tank. Clean the area thoroughly and use the provided sandpaper to lightly abrade the surface for better adhesion.
- Apply Adhesive: Mix the two-part epoxy adhesive according to its instructions. Apply a sufficient amount to the sensor's contact surface.
- Mount the Sensor: Firmly press the sensor onto the prepared tank surface at the chosen position. Use the metal clamp to secure the sensor in place while the adhesive cures.
- Connect Wiring: Connect the sensor to the control box and then wire the control box to the power source and fuel gauge as per the wiring diagram (Figure 4).
- Secure Cables: Use cable ties to neatly secure all wiring, preventing interference and damage.
6. Operation and Calibration
6.1. Mobile App Configuration and Diagnostic
The UL212-F sensor can be configured and diagnosed using a dedicated mobile application, available on both Android (Google Play) and iOS (App Store). Search for "UL212 Fuel Utilities" or similar in your app store.
- Installation Approval: After physical installation, check the probe's status light. A stable GREEN light indicates a good installation position and signal. If the light flashes red, you need to recheck the position and adjust.
- App Status Check: Use the mobile app to verify the sensor's status. Key parameters to check include:
- Real Time Height
- Smooth Height
- Signal Strength (should be >60 for optimal performance)
- Valid Signal No
- Tilt Angle (degree, must be low)

6.2. Programming Ohm Signal Output
To ensure the sensor's output matches your vehicle's original fuel gauge, you may need to program the Ohm signal output. This is done via calibration screws on the control box's circuit board.
- Locate the calibration screws (E, H, F) on the circuit board inside the control box (refer to Figure 6).
- These screws support clockwise or anti-clockwise adjustment to set the 'Empty', 'Half', and 'Full' fuel levels, respectively.
- Use the provided key/tool for precise adjustment. Consult your vehicle's fuel gauge specifications or a professional for accurate calibration values.

7. Maintenance
The RYSJM UL212-F sensor is designed for low maintenance. Periodically check the sensor's physical attachment to the tank and the integrity of the wiring connections. Ensure the sensor surface remains clean from excessive dirt or debris that might interfere with ultrasonic readings. No internal user-serviceable parts are present.
8. Troubleshooting
- Inaccurate Readings:
- Verify the sensor's installation position is optimal (refer to Section 5.1).
- Check the mobile app for signal strength and tilt angle. Adjust position if signal is weak or tilt is high.
- Recalibrate the Ohm signal output using the calibration screws (Section 6.2) to match your fuel gauge.
- No Reading/Sensor Not Responding:
- Check all power connections (DC9~36V) to ensure the sensor and control box are receiving power.
- Inspect wiring for any loose connections or damage.
- Ensure the sensor's status light is stable green. If red, re-evaluate installation.
- Mobile App Connectivity Issues:
- Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your mobile device.
- Make sure the sensor is powered on and within Bluetooth range.
- Restart the mobile app and/or your device.
If issues persist, it is recommended to consult a professional or contact customer support.
9. User Tips
- Broad Compatibility: This ultrasonic fuel sensor is highly versatile and can be used across various vehicle types, including boats, yachts, cars, trucks, and motorcycles, as well as for general water tank level monitoring.
- Material Quality: The sensor is constructed from durable plastic, ensuring longevity and resistance to typical environmental conditions.
- Primary Function: Its main purpose is to provide accurate fuel level readings, effectively serving as a fuel gauge.
