1. Introduction

Important Compatibility Note: These meters are NOT compatible with inverters from Solax, Sofar, Sungrow, Growatt, Huawei, Deye, Hoymiles, or Goodwe. Please ensure compatibility with your system before installation.

2. Setup and Installation

The DDSU666 and DTSU666 meters are designed for DIN-rail installation. Ensure all power is disconnected before proceeding with installation.

2.1 Model Variants and CT Requirements

  • DDSU666 80A Modbus: Single-phase meter with Modbus-RTU communication. Does not require an external Current Transformer (CT).
  • DDSU666 1.5(6)A Modbus: Single-phase meter with Modbus-RTU communication. Requires an external Current Transformer (CT) for operation (CT not included).
  • DDSU666 80A Not RS485: Single-phase meter without communication function. Does not require an external Current Transformer (CT).
  • DTSU666 Series: Three-phase meters with Modbus-RTU communication. Models like DTSU666 1.5(6)A Modbus require external CTs.

2.2 Physical Installation

Mount the meter securely on a standard DIN-rail in a dry, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and excessive vibration. Ensure adequate space for wiring connections.

2.4 RS485 Communication

Connect the RS485 A and B terminals to your Modbus network. Ensure correct polarity for communication.

3. Operating Instructions

Once installed and powered, the meter will display various parameters on its LCD screen.

3.1 LCD Display

The meter features an LCD display with 7 characters and a 7-segment display for clear readings. It indicates measured values such as:

  • Total kWh (kilowatt-hours)
  • Instantaneous kW (kilowatts)
  • Instantaneous Irms (root mean square current)
  • Vrms (root mean square voltage)
  • Frequency
  • Power factor

An LED indicator provides visual feedback, typically flashing to represent energy consumption (number of flashes per kWh).

3.2 Button Functions

The meter typically includes 'SET' and 'ESC' buttons for navigating through display modes and configuring settings. Refer to the on-screen prompts for specific functions.

4. Maintenance

The CHNT CHINT energy meters are designed for long-term, reliable operation with minimal maintenance.

  • Cleaning: Keep the meter clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Connection Check: Periodically inspect all wiring connections to ensure they are secure and free from corrosion.
  • Environmental Conditions: Ensure the operating environment remains within the specified temperature and humidity ranges to prevent damage.

5. Troubleshooting

  • No Display: Check the power supply connections. Ensure the voltage is within the specified range.
  • Incorrect Readings: Verify all wiring connections against the appropriate diagram. For CT models, ensure CTs are correctly installed and oriented.
  • No RS485 Communication: Check RS485 wiring polarity (A/B). Verify Modbus settings (baud rate, parity, slave ID) on both the meter and the master device. Ensure the meter is compatible with your inverter system (refer to the important compatibility note in Section 1).
  • LED Not Flashing: If the LED is not flashing during energy consumption, check the load connection and ensure the meter is correctly measuring current.
