4. Setup and Installation
4.1 Physical Installation
The UL212-F sensor is designed for non-contact installation on the exterior bottom of the liquid tank. Proper placement is crucial for accurate readings.
- Identify Best Position: Locate a flat, clean area on the bottom of the tank, away from any internal tank compartments (A, B), the original tank fuel tube float range (C), or the refueling port (D). Position 'E' in Figure 2 indicates the best installation spot.
- Prepare Surface: Use the provided sandpaper to thoroughly clean and roughen the chosen installation area on the tank's exterior. Ensure the surface is free of dirt, oil, and rust.
- Apply Epoxy Glue: Mix the two components of the AB Epoxy Glue for 20-30 seconds as shown in Figure 3.
- Attach Sensor: Apply the mixed epoxy glue to the bottom of the sensor probe. Firmly press the sensor onto the prepared tank surface. Ensure a strong, bubble-free bond.
- Secure Sensor (Optional): For added security, use the metal clamp around the sensor and tank, if applicable, to hold it in place while the glue cures.

5. Operation
5.1 Mobile App Configuration & Diagnostics
After physical installation and wiring, use the dedicated mobile application (available on Android and iOS) to approve the installation and perform diagnostics.
- Download the "UL212 Fuel" app from Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
- Open the app and connect to the UL212-F sensor via Bluetooth.
- Verify the installation status:
- The probe's LED should show a stable GREEN light. If it flashes red, recheck the sensor position.
- The mobile app should display the following stable status readings (refer to Figure 6):
- Real Time Height & Smooth Value: Stable and close to the actual liquid height.
- Signal Strength: More than 10 or stable.
- Valid Signal Quantity: Stable, more than 20.
- Tilt Angle: Less than 11 Degrees.

5.2 Programming Ohm Signal Output (Calibration)
To ensure the sensor output matches your original fuel gauge, perform the following calibration steps using the buttons (E, H, F) and calibration screw on the control box (refer to Figure 5 for button locations):
- Full Tank Calibration:
- Refuel the tank to its full capacity.
- Power on the UL212-F.
- Press and hold button 'F' (Full).
- While holding 'F', restart the power of the UL212-F.
- Release button 'F' once the RED LED stays on.
- Read and record the fuel maximum height (e.g., 400mm) using the mobile app.
- Adjust the calibration screw (clockwise or anti-clockwise) until your fuel gauge shows "Full".
- Press button 'F' once to save the "Full" signal.
- Half Tank Calibration:
- Decrease the fuel level to approximately half height (e.g., 200mm).
- Adjust the calibration screw until your fuel gauge shows "1/2" (Half).
- Press button 'H' (Half) once to save the "Half" signal.
- Empty Tank Calibration:
- Decrease the fuel level to show around 30-35mm.
- Adjust the calibration screw until your fuel gauge shows "Empty".
- Press button 'E' (Empty) once to save the "Empty" signal.

6. Maintenance
The UL212-F sensor is designed for low maintenance. Follow these guidelines to ensure its longevity and accurate performance:
- Keep Sensor Clean: Periodically inspect the exterior of the sensor and the tank surface where it's mounted. Clean any accumulated dirt or debris that might interfere with ultrasonic signals.
- Check Wiring: Ensure all wiring connections remain secure and free from corrosion or damage.
- Software Updates: Check the mobile application periodically for any available firmware updates for the sensor, which may improve performance or add features.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your UL212-F sensor, refer to the following troubleshooting tips:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No reading or incorrect readings on fuel gauge. |
|
|
| Probe LED flashes red. | Poor signal reception due to improper installation position. | Recheck sensor position on the tank, ensuring it's on a flat, clean area away from obstructions (Figure 2). |
| Mobile app shows unstable or low signal strength/quantity. | Suboptimal sensor placement or adhesion. | Ensure the sensor is firmly attached with no air gaps and is in an optimal position (Figure 2, Figure 3, Figure 7). |
| Fuel gauge reading is inconsistent after calibration. | Calibration points are not accurately set. | Repeat the programming/calibration steps carefully (Section 5.2). Ensure the tank is stable during calibration. |
8. User Tips
- The UL212-F sensor is designed for outer adhering, non-contact liquid level detection, making installation simpler and safer as it avoids drilling into the tank.
- For best results, ensure the tank surface is completely clean and dry before applying the epoxy glue.
- When calibrating, try to perform the steps with the vehicle or tank in a level position to maximize accuracy.
