Setup
Battery Installation:
The ANENG M118A requires 2 x 1.5V AAA batteries (not included). Follow these steps to install them:
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the multimeter.
- Use your nails or a small tool to turn the switch lock to the "Lock" position as shown in the diagram.
- Turn the switch lock to the "Unlock" position. The symbol indicated by the triangle is unlocked, allowing you to remove the battery cover.
- Insert two AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Replace the battery cover and turn the switch lock back to the "Lock" position to secure it.

Connecting Test Leads:
Connect the red test lead to the "VΩHz" or "10A" input jack (depending on the measurement) and the black test lead to the "COM" input jack.

Operating Instructions
The ANENG M118A features automatic gear recognition for safe and convenient use. It automatically detects the type of measurement (voltage, resistance, continuity) and adjusts the range accordingly. For current and capacitance measurements, manual selection may be required using the "SELECT" button.
Product Demonstration Video:
Video 1: A comprehensive demonstration of the ANENG M118A multimeter's various functions and measurement capabilities.
1. DC Voltage Measurement:
Connect the test leads to the circuit in parallel. The multimeter will automatically detect and display the DC voltage. Ensure the pen cover is opened for accurate contact.

2. AC Voltage Measurement:
Connect the test leads to the AC source in parallel. The multimeter will automatically detect and display the AC voltage. Common household AC voltage is typically around 220V, with a measuring range of 0.5V to 600V.
3. Continuity Test (Buzzer):
To check for continuity, touch the test leads to the two points you want to test. If there is a continuous path (low resistance), the multimeter will emit a beep. If there is no beep, the circuit is open.

4. Resistance Measurement:
Connect the test leads across the component whose resistance you want to measure. The multimeter will automatically display the resistance value. Both sides of the component can be measured.

5. DC Current Measurement:
To measure DC current, connect the multimeter in series with the circuit. Ensure the red test lead is in the 10A socket for higher currents. The display will show the current value.
6. AC Current Measurement:
Similar to DC current, connect the multimeter in series with the AC circuit. The display will show the AC current value. Important: Do not directly contact the measuring current like measuring voltage, as direct contact will burn out the instrument. Always connect in series.

7. NCV (Non-Contact Voltage) Sensing:
Press and hold the NCV button. Place the NCV induction probe near an AC voltage source. The multimeter will display "EF" and dashes, and an alarm will sound if voltage is detected, indicating a live wire without direct contact.

8. Zero Line/Fire Line Identification:
Insert one test lead into a socket hole. If the red LED in the middle flashes and emits an alarm buzzer, it indicates a "Fire Wire" (Live). If the red LED is off and there is no alarm sound, it indicates a "Zero Line" (Neutral).
9. Capacitance Measurement:
To measure capacitance, connect the test leads across the capacitor. The multimeter will display the capacitance value. Ensure the capacitor is discharged before measurement.

10. Diode Measurement:
Connect the test leads across the diode. The multimeter will display the forward voltage drop. Ensure the positive and negative poles are correctly aligned for measurement.

11. Data Retention:
Press the "HOLD" button (often integrated with the power/function switch) to freeze the current reading on the display. This is useful for recording measurements in hard-to-reach areas.
12. Flashlight Function:
The built-in flashlight can be activated to illuminate the work area, especially useful in dark environments like electrical panels.

Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the multimeter with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If storing for extended periods, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
- Battery Replacement: Replace batteries promptly when the low battery indicator appears to ensure accurate readings and prevent damage from battery leakage.
- Test Leads: Inspect test leads regularly for any signs of damage (cracks, frayed wires). Replace damaged leads immediately to ensure safety and accuracy.
Troubleshooting
- No Display/Faint Display:
- Check battery installation and polarity.
- Replace with fresh batteries if the low battery symbol is displayed or if the display is faint.
- Incorrect Readings:
- Ensure test leads are properly connected to the correct input jacks (e.g., 10A for current, VΩHz for voltage/resistance).
- Verify the function selected matches the measurement type. Although auto-ranging, some functions like current require specific input jacks.
- Check for damaged test leads.
- "OL" (Overload) Display:
- The measured value exceeds the selected range. The M118A is auto-ranging, but for very high values, it might indicate an overload.
- Ensure the component or circuit is within the multimeter's specified measurement limits.
- No Continuity Beep:
- Ensure the continuity function is selected (if not auto-detected).
- Check if the circuit is indeed open.
- Verify test leads are making good contact.
User Tips
- The ANENG M118A Digital Mini Multimeter is a versatile tool for accurate measurement of capacitance, inductance, and resistance, making it highly useful for various electrical DIY projects.
- Despite its affordable price, this multimeter functions as a real automatic multimeter, offering great value for its capabilities.
