Notes on ink cartridges

• If an ink cartridge is removed, it should be replaced immediately with a new one.
• One ink cartridge should always be used in all colours.
• Only one ink cartridge should be replaced at a time. If several ink cartridges are empty, the replacement must be done in several passes.
• Only new ink cartridges should be used. If a used ink cartridge is inserted, the nozzles may become clogged and the printer will not be able to determine the correct time for the next ink cartridge replacement.
• Before printing with the new cartridges for the first time, it is possible that one or more cleaning operations of the print head are necessary to ensure a clean print image. This can be started via the maintenance/service menu in the printer settings.

Instructions for replacing the ink cartridges

For detailed instructions, please refer to the printer manufacturer’s manual.

1. The printer must be switched on and the scanner lid closed.
2. Open the access door to the cartridges.
   The print head will automatically move to the replacement position.
3. Remove the empty ink cartridge.
   When removing the cartridge, please hold the indentation and then pull out the ink cartridge.
4. Preparing the new ink cartridge
   • Remove the ink cartridge from its packaging.
   • Remove the coloured tape (if included with your cartridge) COMPLETELY!
5. With your finder, grasp the orange cap to remove it CAREFULLY. Do not apply pressure to the sides of the ink container.
6. Insert the ink cartridge into the printer and press down firmly until it clicks into place. Make sure that the colour of the cartridge matches the indication on the label.
7. Close the cartridge access door.

It is normal for your printer to notify you that you are using non-original cartridges. You must acknowledge the message. If the printer does not print, remove the cartridges again and reinsert them. If this does not help, disconnect the printer from the power supply for a few minutes and try again. If your printouts show white streaks, let the cartridges sit in the printer for 15 minutes to allow the ink inside the cartridge to settle. Then a print head cleaning should be performed. If the printer has not been used for a long time, printhead cleaning should be performed several times.

IMPORTANT: Never perform a software update on the printer as this may cause compatible ink cartridges to no longer be recognised.

• The compatible cartridge differs from the appearance of the original cartridges. The design of this cartridge has been specially developed to be compatible with many printer models. Please read the enclosed instructions carefully before installing the cartridge.
