    Question

Why does my TV report a weak signal and take 20 minutes to connect to the B525 LTE CPE?

    Answer

The delay and weak signal report on your TV when using the Huawei B525 LTE CPE can be caused by several environmental or configuration factors. Here are steps to troubleshoot and improve the connection:

    • Check Placement: Obstacles like concrete or wooden walls significantly affect signal transmission. Ensure the CPE is placed in an open space and, if possible, near a window to improve the LTE reception it provides to your home.
    • Avoid Interference: Keep the CPE away from devices that generate strong magnetic or electric fields, such as microwaves, refrigerators, or satellite receivers, as these can interfere with the Wi-Fi signal reaching your TV.
    • Signal Indicators: Check the Signal indicator on the device. If the bars are not full, try altering the orientation or position of the CPE. If the Mode indicator is steady red, the device is failing to connect to the wireless network or is overheating.
    • Frequency Band: The B525 supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi. If your TV is far from the router, try connecting to the 2.4 GHz band (which has better range). If it is close but experiencing interference, try the 5 GHz band.
    • External Antennas: If the LTE signal itself is weak (indicated by few bars on the device), you may need to purchase compatible external antennas to plug into the SMA-J ports on the back of the unit.

The 20-minute delay suggests the TV may be struggling to obtain an IP address or the CPE is taking time to establish a stable LTE handshake. You can try assigning a static IP to your TV within the CPE's web management page (192.168.8.1) to speed up the connection process.

    Question

How do I log in to my Huawei CPE if the default admin password and the password on the label are not working?

    Answer

If the default login credentials (usually admin for both username and password, or the specific password printed on your device label) are not working, it is likely that the password was changed during a previous setup. To resolve this, you should perform a factory reset to restore the original settings.

How to Reset Your Huawei CPE:

    1. Ensure the device is powered on.
    2. Locate the Reset button on the device (usually a small pinhole).
    3. Press and hold the Reset button for more than 3 seconds using a pointed object like a paperclip.
    4. The device will restart, and all settings will return to their factory defaults.

Once the reset is complete, try logging in again at http://192.168.8.1 using the default username and password found on the label. Note that restoring factory settings will override any custom Wi-Fi names or passwords you previously configured.
